November 24, 2021

Hi Everyone,

It is that time again for the 2021-2022 Hastings Varsity Winter Sports Season Openers.  Please note that each venue has its own COVID Spectator Policy. As each school develops its school district policies, we will share information the best we can through the team SportsYou platforms and possible community communications.

In order to follow the WCDOH’s COVID-19  recommendations and to provide the safest possible atmosphere for our venue, Hastings has established the following procedures for Winter Athletics.

  • We will be limiting Spectator Capacity to 1/3 maximum bleacher capacity (approximately 230 spectators) for our Home Events in the Cochran Gymnasium.  We need to allow for ample room for physical distancing. Masks are mandatory in all indoor venues. If you need a mask break, you must go out of the building.
  • Each Hastings student-athlete will be provided with four guest passes for each Home contest. Each opposing team’s student-athlete will be provided two guest passes for a contest. We will be checking passes at the door.
  • The remaining spectators' entry will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Spectators will be required to sign in at the gymnasium entrance with one of our chaperones, who will help keep track of our event capacity and potential use for contact tracing.
  • We live stream all home games so you can also watch from the comfort of your own home by clicking here: https://events.locallive.tv/school/hastings-hs

You can find our Winter Interscholastic Athletics Spectator Policy on the Hastings School District Website under athletics. Click here to review https://www.hohschools.org/Page/5620.  After the first few events, we will reassess our spectator policy and make revisions if necessary.

We would like to remind everyone that in order to provide a safe environment for our student-athletes, coaches, staff, and spectators all rules must be followed.  We do not want anything to jeopardize the ability of our teams to compete for this season or anyone getting sick due to an event.

As always, we take pride in our reputation of being honored with the Award for Excellence for Exemplary Display of Sportsmanship, Ethics, & Integrity.  Any negative behavior will result in removal from the premises and possible future events.  Let's show everyone what a wonderful, respectful place Hastings is.  Let’s go Yellowjackets!
