Winter Bike to Work Day and Bike From Work Bash 2022
Winter Bike to Work/Wherever Day (BTWD) 2022 certainly did not disappoint! Even in the face of frigid temperatures and icy winds our community of folks on bikes showed up with all the earnest enthusiasm you could ever hope for from one of the most bicycle friendly communities in the nation. Two years of virtual gatherings makes us all the more grateful for these brighter days and the opportunity to come together and celebrate bikes and people and community….
Black History Month: Major Taylor
Over the course of Black History Month 2022, we have highlighted a different cyclist of color each week via our social channels in our small but earnest attempt to increase diversity, equity, and inclusivity in cycling. On the last week of Black History Month, we are most grateful to Dr. Ray Black, professor of African American Studies at Colorado State University, for taking the time to pen the following piece on Major Taylor.
Intersection / Facility Focus - Eastbound Mulberry Street
For this month's intersection/facility focus we look at the east bound protected bike lane on Mulberry approaching the Mulberry St. & Taft Hill Rd. intersection. We are particularly interested to hear your perspective and experience of this stretch during the winter months. Please take the survey, your voice matters!
In our January issue, we conducted the same survey and posed similar safety related questions for the intersection of Prospect Rd. and Welch St. Thank you to those who responded.
You Know Me. I Ride a Bike. - Tamene Abebe
Born in the small Ethiopian town of Deder in 1959, Tamene came from humble beginnings. With few paved roads and scarce resources, it was rare to even see a bike in Deder, nevermind owning one. It wasn’t until Tamene was in his early teens that he saw his first bike and was mesmerized with the possibilities and freedom it represented. Not long after that, he and his older brother found an abandoned bike and slowly brought it back to life. His older brother, the more mechanical of the two, was able to cobble together a functional bike with the limited supplies and materials they had.
Shifting Your Ride?
...whether it be in favor of a new electric vehicle, or (hopefully) active modes like a new bike? We'e excited to introduce that now, when you need or want to get rid of a car, truck, boat or RV, you can donate them to Bike Fort Collins, where the proceeds will go toward supporting our mission and all the work we do.

We've aligned with a nationally recognized organization that will pick-up and turn key the entire donation process.
