The Winter Carnival Fireworks Are A Go!

Thank You Glenora!

After our call-out for sponsors we had some incredible neighbours reach out and offer to cover the cost of the fireworks.

A huge thank you to Bill & Grace Knight from Get Mosaic who donated the full amount for our fireworks show! It's the generosity & commitment to the Glenora community from neighbours like these that allow us to host events that bring our community together.

More special thanks goes to

WE NEED MORE PEOPLE IN THE VILLAGE

We've all heard the saying, "It takes a village." We know the benefits of a strong community—but you can't rely on a village you don’t take part in.

Our Community League exists to activate the community through events, programming, and sharing neighbourhood news. But for our community to truly thrive, we need more than just the same handful of volunteers making everything happen. We need more people in the village.

Please show up, get involved, and help make our neighbourhood a place where everyone thrives.

The Glenora Community League Board has positions that urgently need filling. Please consider volunteering and getting involved so we can continue to provide more services to our community.

Events Committee

  • we need a small and mighty group pf people to help plan and run events at the Glenora Community League. We can not continue community events without a small group taking over this role so please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested (and maybe tap a another neighbour on the shoulder to join you!)

Membership Director

  • we are looking for a community-oriented person who will come up with creative ideas to increase memberships, sell memberships and answer membership related questions

Fundraising Director

  • with the various projects we have intended for our league, we are looking for someone with experience in fundraising to help us achieve our goals.

Grant Applications

  • we need a motivated and experienced person to seek out and apply for various grants to help our fundraising and program initiatives

If you have any of the above skills, please submit your interest to Brad Colcy at president@glenoracl.com

COMMUNITY LEAGUE BUILDING REDEVELOPMENT

Over the last 12 months the Glenora Community League redevelopment committee has shifted their focus from the outdoor space to our community league building.

In the last 12 months we obtained a planning grant from the City of Edmonton and have applied those funds to engaging the services of Andrea Hestvik to help us come up with a concept for redevelopment. Andrea is an architect as well as the Facilities Director at Crestwood community league.

Based on principles gathered from the community, survey and the input gathered we have build a 5-phase plan overview for the building.

ONLINE MEMBERSHIP PORTAL

We have a new online membership portal, which will help us communicate, manage and coordinate your annual GCL membership.

Using this tool, you will no longer have to go searching your email for your membership number, as you will be able to log into your account and access your membership details anytime.

It will also allow us to communicate directly with active members only with information like court codes, and allow you to set up membership renewal automatically or manually through the portal.

An email was sent in the Spring with instructions for claiming your current membership and setting up your account. As the new membership year has already started since September, everyone will need to sign up for a new membership. You can register with auto-renew on this platform so your membership always stays current, or you can sign in to your account and renew manually.

If you do not have a current membership, you can buy one here and set up your membership account.

If you have any questions about this new tool or have questions or concerns about your membership, please email Laura at communications@glenoracl.com

WE NEED SKATE ROOM VOLUNTEERS!

We need some help from our Glenora Community members to help manage the skate room and do some snow removal when required. If we don’t get volunteers, we won’t be opening the skate room for skaters to change and warm up.

If you are able to help in the skate room or need skate tags for the upcoming season, please contact Peter at sports@glenoracl.com

SKIP THE DEPOT

Save your bottles for Glenora Community League! We have an account with Skip The Depot so you can turn your cans into cash for the league! Register here for an account to have them pick up your bottles & cans & have the funds donated straight to Glenora initiatives. Every little bit counts!
