Winter Course Request Lottery Opens Today
Submit Your Top Choices for Winter 2022

The catalog is now available online, and one copy has been mailed to every member's household. Select up to three courses from the many offerings for Winter, then sign in to your account and add your requests to your shopping cart. Take your time considering course options–you have until 4:00 PM Pacific on November 19 to submit your selections for the Course Request Lottery, so there's no rush. 
 
Open Enrollment Begins December 13. Add as many courses as you'd like from among the dozens that will have available seats at that time. A list of open courses will be available online.

Advanced Songwriting Invites You to Listen In
Denny Caraher's Advanced Songwriting class invites all OLLI members to join them for an informal presentation of the songs they have written this term. Each of the songwriters will briefly introduce his/her song, then you'll hear a recorded version of it. Shared Interest Group Book Club for November
OLLI's Online Book Club Shared Interest Group (SIG) meets online to discuss interesting books without leaving home! Members read the book selected, then meet over Zoom on one Saturday to discuss the book. The next month's book is chosen by a participant in the current month.

The book for November is “Rule Makers, Rule Breakers. Tight and Loose Cultures and the Secret Signals That Direct Our Lives,” by Michele Gelfand, with the discussion on Saturday, November 20, (to avoid conflict with the Thanksgiving holiday) at 3:00 PM Pacific time. OLLI Council Meeting

The Future of Aging in the Rogue Valley
OLLI members are invited to join in an upcoming Zoom meeting hosted by AGE+, a Portland-based nonprofit which is partnering with local communities across Oregon to talk about the future of aging. Let's talk about what it will be like for you and your neighbors to grow older. What types of supports and services are important to you? Everyone is welcome! People of all ages are invited to participate.

The conversation for the Medford region (which includes all of southwestern Oregon) will take place from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Pacific Time on Tuesday, November 9.

Friends of the Hannon Library Invitation
The Friends of the Hannon Library invite all OLLI members to the second event of their annual speaker series on Thursday, November 11, 7:00 PM Pacific Time. Keepers of the Flame: Indigenous Burning Practices and the Future of Land Management.

Join Dr. Beth Rose Middleton Manning, and Professor Chris Adlam for their talk on cultural burning as a restorative practice with multiple co-benefits for land, water, and human communities. They will discuss the ecological and sociopolitical importance of supporting cultural burning practices, share lessons learned from collaborative cultural burning workshops, and reflect on current opportunities and challenges facing cultural burning practitioners in both California and Oregon.
