Quarterly Newsletter | Winter 2026

Fast Facts

Last June, we adjusted our market hours and shifted our format to add an Express Shopping Day in order to accommodate growth with the size of our building and our team. With the support of our volunteers and some very strategic operational changes, our team has been able to consistently serve nearly the same number of households as with the previous, longer market hours. In addition, our guests are loving the quicker option of Express Shopping offered on Thursdays. This is strong evidence that the current operating model is delivering comparable reach in less time, and of how efficient and impactful the current model is. Just as important, this shift has created real margin for the Operations team—more space to be thoughtful and strategic to prepare for what's ahead as we continue to serve our community.

From the Director

Happy New Year! As we look forward to the warmer days and fresh blooms ahead, I hope you all have been finding joy in community throughout the challenges of these winter months.

As we reflect on all the changes our community faced in 2025, I invite you to celebrate with us the things that you helped make possible through your steadfast support. In 2025, over 1,000 new households shopped in our market or received emergency food services. Our market served an average of approx. 1,150 households a month, providing quality fresh produce, dairy and meat items, culturally appropriate foods, and even diapers and toiletries. Our community donated approximately 1,000,000 pounds of food and hygiene items and volunteered over 26,000 hours of their time. Wow! So much for us all to celebrate! ...Read the rest here.

What We're Hearing: A Mother's Heart

While caring for her four children, Sandra worked full time,
burning the candle at both ends to make sure that their needs were met every night before she returned to work in the morning. She and her husband worked tirelessly to provide for their family and make do with what they had.

After Sandra had her fifth and sixth children, she made the difficult decision to stay home and become a full-time caregiver, transitioning to a single-income household. Daycare was no longer affordable, and it didn’t make sense to be paying for childcare for six children on their budget. This changed their financial reality, and the family had to cut back even further on what they were able to afford, including things like terminating Sandra’s cell phone plan and getting creative to stretch her husband’s landscaping income as far as she could.

A Food Bank Friend for Life

Champion Spotlight: Linda Owens

Linda Owens has been a supporter of the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank for over 50 years. She was first introduced to our work many years ago when we were operating out of a local church in the Issaquah community. “I helped out in a very simple way of helping our neighbors that had food insecurity. The food distribution was basic, as the volunteers filled grocery bags with items that had been donated before opening the doors each week,” Linda shared. “There was no stigma, just neighbors helping neighbors.”

While raising her four children, Linda supported the food bank through participating in food drives and donating when she could. When she drove her grandson to volunteer at the food bank as a part of his high school community service project, Linda was inspired by seeing the growth in services offered..... Read the rest here.

Holiday Gift Program 2025

With the help of 45 volunteers, hundreds of donors, many groups who held drives and fundraisers, and four very generous angel donors, Holiday Gifts 2025 served over 1,000 children! Thank you for caring for our youngest recipients by helping to provide them with gift cards, stocking stuffers, gift wrap, games, and goodies in December!

Lunch for the Break-

February 2026

We served 186 families at Lunch for the Break on February 5, 2026! This provided extra groceries to nearly 400 children, including cheese, two dozen eggs, two packs of chicken, bacon, milk, butter, cereal, mac n' cheese, and a 25+ lb bag of produce!

Lunch for the Break provides nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack options for school-age children living in the Issaquah School District. The program helps alleviate food insecurity during school breaks by providing healthy grocery items for students to be able to prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks for themselves.

Thank you to all our amazing donors and volunteers who make programs like these possible!
