Bring your lunch and join us at the Red Barn Classroom to hear Lillian Pearson discuss " Assessing rates of post-depositional change in the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami sediments of northern Sumatra ". Lillian is a graduate student at the University of Southern Mississippi and California Academy of Sciences (and a former Point Reyes National Seashore Paleontology Intern). Learn more.

Book Buddies
If you are interested in gifting a book to a local child this holiday season, please come by the Bear Valley store and check out our 'book wish list' in the basket near the front entrance display. We donate requested science books to local schools and libraries. Your purchase will support both science education and the national park! Book Buddies Program ends on December 25.

Josie Iselin's The Curious World of Seaweed
Saturday, December 14 - 10:30 am at the Bear Valley Visitor Center
Join local SF author, photographer, and artist, Josie Iselin, as she signs copies of her newly released book The Curious World of Seaweed . Josie will describe her path as an artist into the science of seaweed and share a few seaweed stories, introducing some women scientists who were crucial in broadening our understanding of the oceans. Josie's books will be available for sale and make great gifts. This event is free. More Info .
Monthly Member Hike
Bear Valley Trailhead

We love getting to know our members better! We are offering another full moon hike on Saturday, December 14, at the Bear Valley Trailhead. Brandon Barragan, PRNSA Diversity and Outreach Coordinator and Heather Clapp, PRNSA Development and Communications Manager (and former K-8 informal environmental science and homeschool educator) will be on hand to share with you this special trail, the diverse creatures that call this habitat their home, and (fingers crossed) the magic of the full moon. You, your family, and friends are invited to join us for some fun and community building. Come join us for the PRNSA Run Club! You can jog, walk, or run. All you have to do is show up with athletic shoes and attire! All running abilities are welcome. Run is around 30 mins. - 1 hour (approx. 3 miles round-trip).
Route: Bear Valley Trail up to Divide Meadow and back.

We also invite you to share some of your questions with us! Please send us your Seashore-related trivia questions (and answers) for use at our upcoming Trivia Night. Submit as many times as you like. Categories will include science and nature, history and geography, and arts and culture. We will compete in teams of 3 -5. Winners will receive prizes at the end of the night. Field Institute Facilitator Volunteer Training

Point Reyes National Seashore Association and ReadySF are proud to host another Wilderness First Aid course in Point Reyes National Seashore. Prepare for the unexpected with this fun, hands-on introduction to wilderness medicine, taught over two days.
This course is great for people of all experience levels, and is best suited for those who recreate outdoors where emergency response can be expected in a timely manner. You'll learn the Patient Assessment System, how to provide effective first aid treatments for injuries and illnesses common in the outdoors, and how to make appropriate evacuation decisions.
