Medication Assistance in Action!

Meet the Medication Assistance Team from Western Tidewater Free Clinic! Nadia Copeland, CPhT (pictured on left) and Rebecca Bartlett, CPhT are VHCF-funded Medication Assistance Caseworkers (MACs). Nancy Rogerson, RPh is the volunteer pharmacist (pictured on right). This dynamic team works closely with the clinic’s providers and nurses to ensure uninsured patients obtain the medicine and education they need. 

AIRSUPRA: 2 in 1 Asthma Rescue Inhaler Available Now in TPC!

AIRSUPRA is a rescue inhaler containing albuterol (90 mcg) and budesonide (80 mcg). It is FDA-approved for ages 18 and older to treat symptoms and reduce the risk of asthma attacks and is now available in TPC. Patients who meet the AZ&ME Prescription Savings Program eligibility requirements may be able to obtain this medication for FREE. PAXCESS Patient Support Program Now Offers

PAXLOVID for FREE

PAXLOVID is a 5-day oral prescription medicine used to treat mild-to-moderate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‑19) in adults who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID‑19, including hospitalization or death. Patients who are uninsured, have Medicaid or Medicare, may be able to obtain PAXLOVID for FREE through the PAXCESS Patient Support Program that is now available in TPC. Visit the PAXCESS Patient Portal or call 877-219-7225 for enrollment and instant eligibility determination. A voucher is generated upon approval that can be taken to a participating pharmacy. A Co-Pay Savings Program is also available for commercially insured individuals.

New medications:

  • Miebo (Opthalmic)
  • Orgovyx (Hematology/Oncology)
  • Verquvo (Cardiovascular)
  • Zoryve (Dermatologic)
  • EpiPen Auto-Injector has been replaced with the generic epinephrine injection through Viatris’ PAP.
  • Breyna inhaler (budesonide and formoterol fumarate dihydrate) can be ordered manually through this Viatris PAP application. Breyna will be added to TPC once the medication pricing information is available. 

Prescription Eyeglasses from New Eyes

Low-Cost Fee Starting April 1, 2024

Over the past year, New Eyes saw a 40% increase in the demand for free eyeglasses. In order to ensure program sustainability, the program will be making some changes. Beginning April 1, 2024, there will be a $10 application fee payable online after an application is approved for an individual to receive prescription eyeglasses. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. 

PAP Conference Scholarship Opportunity

The Patient Assistance & Access Programs Conference is March 19 – 21, 2024 at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. Scholarships for non-profit organizations are available for complimentary registration. The deadline to submit a scholarship application is February 16, 2024. Partnership Opportunities Available for

Free Medicines and Medical Supplies

Is your organization a 501(c)3 non-profit or public entity serving uninsured or underinsured individuals whose income is less than 300% of the federal poverty level (FPL)? The Americares U.S. Program offers a real-time online inventory for partner organizations to order free supplies such as PPE, diabetic supplies, personal hygiene supplies and medicines and there is no fee to join. Direct Relief supports health safety net providers with the opportunity to order from an online inventory of free medical supplies such as PPE and medicines including antibiotics, vitamins, mental health medications, insulin and more on an on-going basis. Katie Hill, MPH, CHES 

Katie joined VHCF’s team this Fall and oversees VHCF’s medication assistance programs (RxRelief Virginia and The Pharmacy Connection). Katie has a Masters in Public Health and more than twenty years of experience working in healthcare related programs, including seven years with the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services. She looks forward to getting to know you and learning more about your work. We are delighted that she is here!
