1,200+ Students Receive Funding to Attend Professor Wow's
FUN-Believable Science Show SM .
On Monday, November 19 th over 2,200 kindergarteners through fifth-graders from schools located in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Hampton enjoyed Professor Wow’s FUN-Believable Science Show SM at the Sandler Center. 1,251 of these students received full funding to attend the matinée through the generous support of the Sandler Center Foundation, its donors and sponsors. Fun antics, combined with learning, thrilled the elementary school students as they experienced the fantastic 12-foot tall “Foam Monster,” the seemingly impossible “Balloons in Orbit,” the uproariously funny “Bernoulli TP Wipe Out Challenge,” and the “Super-Colossal Vortex Cannon.” They learned that nothing is impossible—as long as it obeys the laws of science!
The Sandler Center Foundation offers unique cultural and educational experiences to teachers, students and homeschooled families through its Education Program. These matinée performances provide many students with their first experience in a world-class performing arts venue, while also providing a fun learning experience to support and enhance the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs). The Foundation, through the support of its members and education partners, including Consumer Real Estate and PRA Group, serves over 16,000 students annually, 80% of whom receive attendance funding.
