Our Mission
Protect and Advocate for Parents' Rights to Guide the Education of Their Children.

Winter Newsletter, 2017

Ever wonder why PRIE spends so much time  talking about sex?  You may recall that when Parents' Rights in Education (PRIE) formed in 2011, our maiden issue was Oregon's K-12 comprehensive sexuality education (CSE). This led to investigating the content and presenters at the annual Seaside Adolescent Sexuality Conferences which were deemed, by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), as being in compliance with the law, promoting best practices, helping to prevent teen pregnancy and promoting healthy and safe relationships. Ironically, despite years of flying under the radar, once the sexually explicit and pornographic content and messages were exposed (statewide and nationally), this conference was cancelled.
Oregon parents, guardians, school board members, superintendents, law enforcement and media stepped up, took action and got the truth out about this conference. They had a huge impact!

PRIE continues to monitor new developments or changes in Oregon's human sexuality education. We encourage you as a parent, guardian, school board member, or superintendent to carefully monitor and evaluate any new K-12 CSE curriculum, training and programs being promoted and/or provided by the ODE.  Your efforts can make a difference!
The Sexual War on Children

Below is a shocking documentary by Family Watch International addressing the dangers of K-12 comprehensive sexuality education that is currently being promoted by the Oregon Department of Education and pushed on children.  Organizations like Parents' Rights in Education are forming across the country and parents are fighting back and speaking out against the real threat sexual grooming education is to our children, not only nationally, but internationally.

Jail Officer Lost His Job After Giving Tylenol to an Inmate

Don't you find it ironic that a jail officer in Wisconsin can lose his job over giving an inmate Tylenol?  Yet in the state of Oregon, 15 year olds can have a sex change operation without parental knowledge or consent.  Also, minors can access contraceptive care at any age without parental knowledge or consent. In Wisconsin, a man loses his job over Tylenol; in Oregon adults are paid to hid sex change surgeries from parents.  Who really deserves to be fired? Will parents remain silent as their rights are quietly legislated away?

What's Going on at Cottage Grove High School?
(Could This be Happening at Your School?)

Why does the female Assistance Basketball Coach at Cottage Grove High School  believe she can enter the boys locker room while the boys are showering, or any other time?    A "social media posting" revealed the behavior of the coach which in turn infuriated the community.

In a statement released  by the district: " South Lane School District  is aware of a few complaints regarding coaches of the opposite gender entering our locker rooms for coaching.  We have a woman on the boy's basketball coaching staff just like we have men on the women's basketball coaching staff. Students safety and security has been and will continue to be our top priority.  In addition to reinforcing already existing protocols, we have put in place further precautions for ensuring that our students feel safe.  The protocols include alternative meeting spaces for coaches of both genders to meet their respective teams outside of the locker room area...".

Based on this school district's statement, one could deduce that the female coach had been entering the boys locker room, and the school was aware of it, and did nothing until it was posted on social media. According to KEZI News, there were more than 200 posts on social media...that's more than a few complaints.  The existing protocols appear to have allowed the female coach to enter the boys locker room, otherwise, why would they need to create new protocols that designated an alternative meeting place?

This also raises the question:  Did the men on the women's basketball coaching staff also enter the girls' locker room while they were showering?

Is This a New Version of the Oregon "Adolescent Sexuality Conference"?
Same People, Same Organizations, Same State Agencies...Just a
New Nom de Guerre)

We always knew the cancellation of the Adolescent Sexuality Conference was a temporary stay on the march to sexualize our children in the public schools.  So we weren't surprised when Oregon's Attorney General's Sexual Assault Task Force (OSATF) held the first   2016 Statewide Summit on Sexual Health and Promotion and Violence Prevention:  Connecting the Dots in Oregon , in October 2016.

In 2015 the legislature passed Oregon K-12 Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Program, Senate Bill 856, a laudable bill, as an attempt to train teachers to identify signs of child abuse and abusive behavior.  It should be noted that all Oregon teachers are already required mandatory reporters for child sex abuse and anti-bullying.   Each year they undergo required training updates.  Concerns  arise when the prevention program falls under the umbrella of K-12 Human Sexuality Education (which should be called by its real name "Sexuality Grooming Education").   It is n ow possible to combine K-12 Comprehensive Sexuality Education(CSE)  and Child Sexual Abuse Prevention into one entity and possibly return to a new version of the Adolescent Sexuality Conference.  A place where sex ed and child sexual abuse prevention are given carte blanche to teach our children a panoply of sexual diversities and to promote sexual identity exploration.

Hookups', 'Friends With Benefits,' 'Open or Poly Relationships'
Does This Promote Teen Sexual Health?

Another organization that presented at the 2016 Statewide Summit on Sexual Health and Promotion of Violence Prevention: Connecting the Dots in Oregon was Heather Corinna, Director of Scarleteen.  Scarleteen is an organization and website which provides "sexuality, sexual health and relationship information" to young people and did the closing plenary at this October 10th Summit.

Oregonians want to know why the Attorney General's Oregon Sexual Assault Task Force (OSATF) has chosen to showcase Scarleteen as a credible resources in which to promote sexual health and sexual violence prevention in Oregon public schools.

Examples of content promoted on Scarleteen Website:

"There's a big range of interactions and relationships that can all be healthy, happy and involve love--or like, lust, or even I-don't-know--yet-what-this-is-but-it-sure-is-fun-so-far--not just one kind of relationship. Hookups or friends with benefits, open or poly relationships, friendships, sexual monogamy, love relationships without sex, exes turned friends, and even the love relationship one has with oneself can all potentially be sweet, caring, beneficial and meaningful for the people within them...At Scarleteen, we give information and support to young people accepting this range: in fact, we think the diversity of relationships and interactions is wonderful.  We aim to help our users create healthy relationships they feel great about whatever their shape or form."

"Want to get some condoms and other sex health and pleasure helper right here?...Once you make an order, they will quickly ship your goodies, in packaging which doesn't tell what's inside...Here's to finding a great batch of high quality condoms, lubes, dams or gloves that will be ready to rock when you are!"

The Oregon Attorney General's Sexual Assault Task Force was on the steering committee of the controversial Oregon Adolescent Sexuality Conference, along with Planned Parenthood, Oregon Department of Education and Cascade Aids Project to name a few.  The conference was cancelled in 2015 due to exposing minors to pornographic, unsafe and potentially illegal content.

The New 2016 Health Standards...
a Euphemism for Sexual Grooming
Standards and the Diminishing of Parental Rights

Parents should be aware that the new K-12 sex ed standards for 2017 have been codified.  The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) is currently "developing instructional material" to be presented this summer and to be fully implemented (aka indoctrinated) into the 2018 school year.

From the new standards, ODE states; "Health-literate people (this should read "minors") are able to obtain and apply knowledge and skills to enhance their own health and the health of others - both now and in the future...".  Let's be clear, the new standards do not apply to adults, they apply to minors, 5 year olds to 17 year olds, or  K-12 minors in the public school.  The standards represent an infringement on parental rights.  These standards teach minors that it is not necessary to tell their parents about their health care decisions and what they are accessing while in school.

ODE thanked the statewide stakeholders for providing the input that created the revised standards. So, who were the stakeholders? Why not  identify the names of these stakeholders?  Do they represent the values, wishes and the needs of individual school districts?  Was Planned Parenthood, TransActive Gender Center, Basic Rights Oregon or the Oregon Attorney General's Sexual Assault Task Force involved?  Could we presume that the stakeholders were the same entities who attended the 2016 Statewide Summit on Sexual Health and Promotion of Violence Prevention: Connecting the Dots?

Below are a few examples of the new Oregon 2016 health/sex ed standards that will be implemented in all K-12 public schools.  For a complete list, visit:  Oregon 2016 K-12 Sex Ed Standards and Performance Indicators

Kindergarten (5-6 year olds):
  • Recognize that there are many ways to express gender.
  • Provide examples of how friends and family influence how people think they should act on the basis of their gender.
  • Identify sources of support, such as parents or other trusted adults, to seek information about sexual and reproductive health, including pregnancy and birth.
  • Identify who to report to at home, school and in the community if they see unsafe objects.

Should We Trust that the Oregon Department of Education and the Oregon Health Authority is Going to Get This Right?

After years of 'blurring the lines' between Oregon education and Oregon health care, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), partnering with the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), have been incrementally activating an adult cultural agenda of sexually grooming and normalizing no-boundaries sexual behavior to youth.  This is being perpetrated through School Based Health Clinics, K-12 Comprehensive Sexuality Education and through the canceled annual Adolescent Sexuality Conference (ASC) in Seaside, Oregon.  With several years of Oregon legislation paving the way, there is now great concern that this has led to an attempt to silence parents and, to what can reasonably characterized as child endangerment or child abuse.

Senate Bill 856 states that every Oregon school district shall adopt a K-12 child sexual abuse prevention instruction program that is "culturally sensitive, evidence-based, age appropriate"...and that includes "discussion, role playing, activities, books, knowledge and tools regarding safe/unsafe touch, safe/unsafe secrets, how to recognize, escape and report sex abuse situations, evaluation of measurable outcomes, professional training, informing parents about these topics, characteristics of offenders, grooming behaviors...with either teachers, counselors or outside agencies giving this instruction.

Senate Bill 856 (2015) was passed as an attempt to train school employees and even students K-12, to recognize signs of sexual abuse or abusive behavior in order to prevent such abuse. This is a noble attempt, but there is concern that it will fall under the purview of the same OHA and ODE 'specialists' who supported or sponsored much of what has been exposed as very objectionable, age inappropriate, developmentally inappropriate, unhealthy and unsafe for our children.  ODE's current 'Sexual Health & School Health Specialists', Eli Sanders, speaks in support of, and has participated in the inclusion of the adult cultural, sexuality agenda in our schools - an agenda which can put our children at serious risk to their health, mental health and their safety.

The following originated under the premise that these entities would promote 'healthy choices' for youth, or would serve to prevent child (sexual) abuse...you decide.

Upcoming Events in 2017

Oregon needs YOU to run for school board!  Last day to apply is  March 16, 2017. Here is an Oregon School Boards Association's " Guide for Oregon School Board Candidates ". Contact PRIE if you need more information.

National School-Based Health Care Awareness Month,  February 1 - February 28, 2017.  Oregon students, teachers, parents and interested parties (Planned Parenthood) waste a day of real education to travel to Salem on February 27 to lobby the legislature for more funds to promote school-based health clinics (SBHCs). Read the FACTS about SBHCs that every Oregonians needs to know.

Oregon 2017 8th and 11th Grade Healthy Teen Survey -  Oregon school districts do not  have to administer these 150+ question surveys to their students and some Oregon school boards have chosen not to use district money and instructional time on this. Results of this unscientific survey are used to promote Oregon School Based Health Clinics, obtain grants, and promote K-12 Sex Ed programs and curriculum.   See  General Opt-Out Form which includes issue of surveys.

SBAC Testing -  Oregon school districts are being asked to spend a  lot of money and essential classroom time administering the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) tests. Take a look at an Oregon school district that is questioning the value-ad of SBAC testing. Consider having your child opt out.

Day of Silence, April 21, 2017  - An annual event promoted by GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight, Education Network) a homosexual club in the public school and endorsed by public schools across the nation.  On this day, students are encouraged to remain silent and not speak in class as a show of solidarity against bullying, bias and harassment of LGBTQ students. Some school districts, schools, teachers and clubs promote this via posters, assemblies and special announcements.  There are t hose who disagree with the Day of Silence and suggest keeping your child home on April 21, 2017 for a 'A National Day of Silence Walkout'.

Did You Know?
Oregon High School Principal Using Students
in Graphic Sex Stage Play

An Oregon principal demonstrates what it means to fall in line with what the Oregon Department of Education's K-12 Comprehensive Sex Ed espouses. Or, as we like to refer to it as  K-12 Sexual Grooming Education.

South Eugene High School Principal,  Andy Dey, supported and promoted the stage play,
Spring Awakening ,
a rock musical in which minor student were "acting in scenes with explicit sex, abortion, references to masturbation, teenage sex, homosexuality, unprotected sex, child abuse and all-out adolescent rebellion complete with language, not intended for less mature audience".   "The play is rated MA-14 (Mature Audiences) and no one under the age of 14 will be admitted unless accompanied by an adult."  Performances began Nov. 2, 2016.

Principal Dey, stated:  "In silence and in secrets, there are great dangers", to a group of parents at a "sexual education curriculum" event for the play.  Rey, further believes your 'typical sex education does not  provide students with enough information to make informed decisions'.  We wonder what universe Dey is living in?  Of course, the usual suspects were present as  facilitators at this event...the ubiquitous Planned Parenthood, Eugene's Sexual Assault Support Services and REV (Respect Everyone's Voice).

Many adolescent psychologists, pediatricians and law enforcement officials consider what Mr. Dey condoned actually fit the description of exploitation, child endangerment and sexual grooming.  Ironically, Principal Dey was attempting to raise money for the prevention of sexual assault and support for abuse prevention.  Using children in this very developmentally inappropriate socio/political experiment is irresponsible, dangerous and certainly not in the purview of an educational institution.

This certainly gives reason to question whether some Oregon public schools have sunk into such a pit that they think attaching the word "education" sanitizes this decidedly "unhealthy" agenda.  As parents we should be concerned.

CDC and Sexually Transmitted Diseases/Infections

According to the CDC's annual 2015 Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance Report the total cases  of chlamydia, gonorrhea, primary and secondary syphilis reached an all time high.  It should be noted that not all STD's are reported to the CDC.  Those not required to be reported are  human papillomavirus, herpes simplex virus, and trichomoniasis.

While gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis can be cured with antibiotics, in 2016 the STD Prevention Conference Press Release warned drugs used to treat gonorrhea may becoming ineffective.  Also, according to the CDC, 20 million new cases of STDs are reported each year.  Half of those cases are from people 15 to 24 years of age, accompanied by a staggering health care cost of   $16 billion.   STDs can pose significant long term health consequences if not diagnosed early, such as HIV, chronic pain, cancer, infertility and ectopic pregnancy.  Often these diseases do not even present themselves with symptoms until the damage to the body is complete.

In Oregon, a minor can access contraceptive care (condoms, morning after pill, IUDs, abortion etc.) without parental knowledge or consent.  A student in Oregon, if they have a school-based health clinic in their school, could receive contraceptive care, a prescription at the school, or they could be referred to an off school grounds public health clinic.  To learn more about school based health clinics read  SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CLINICS on our website.

Ontario Deputy Education  Minister, Sentenced
On Child  Porn-Related  Charges

Mr. Benjamin Levin, " a top educator" in Ontario, Canada was arrested and sentenced on child porn charges.  The judge who sentenced Levin stated "he urged people he met online to 'sadistically sexually assault' their children in his quest for sexual thrills...".   Sadly, Mr. Levin was sentenced to only three years in prison.

Interestingly, Mr. Levin as Deputy Education Minister, was the architect for Ontario's sex education curriculum.  Levin pleaded guilty to "child pornography, making child pornography" among other despicable behaviors.

This is a shocking situation in Canada, but do you remember in 2014 the Oregon Department of Education hired Cory Silverberg to be a keynote speaker at the Adolescent Sexuality Conference (ASC) in Seaside?  Conference attendees observed Silverberg projecting images of multiple porn sites during his workshop.  Minors were encouraged to access suggested sites for safe sex and experimentation with alternative gender identities.  Silverberg also owned a sex shop in Ontario, Canada.

Oregon Healthy Teen Survey and Planned Parenthood

In 2014 Lila Rose of Live Action, posing as a minor, went undercover to two Planned Parenthood abortion clinics in which the staff offered "dangerous and disturbing advise" to minors regarding gagging, whipping and asphyxiation (aka the choking game).

Flash forward to the 2017 Healthy Teen Survey.  This survey is currently being administered to Oregon public school students.  In the survey, under the heading of  "The Choking Game, also called Knock Out, Space Monkey, Flatlining, or The Fainting Game" asked three questions regarding this game.  Questions 78-80 were asked of 8th graders, and 84-86 of 11th graders.
These particular questions have been in the survey since 2009.

Don't you find it disturbing that the Oregon Department of Education would be partnering with an organization like Planned Parenthood, who appear to be promoting the choking game as a form of sexual pleasure to minors?
