Boat Shrink Wrap Recycling Program
April 16 - June 30
To reduce the amount of plastic waste entering our environment, the Woods Hole Sea Grant program, in collaboration with the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, is conducting a free shrink wrap recycling program across Cape Cod from April 16 through June 30, 2021.

The program requires recyclers to ensure the boat shrink wrap is clean and free of ropes, vents, strapping and any other non-shrink wrap material.

Six drop off locations across the Cape:
• Bourne Integrated Solid Waste Facility
• Chatham Transfer Station
• Dennis Transfer Station
• Eastham Transfer Station
• Falmouth MacDougalls Boatyard (Falmouth Residents only)
• Wellfleet Transfer Station/Recycling Center
Red Tides and Harmful Algal Blooms
Thank you to Don Anderson, a Senior Scientist in the Biology Department at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), for his fascinating discussion about red tides, which was presented last week as part of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Environmental lecture series. In his “The Global Problem of Red Tides and Harmful Algal Blooms” presentation, Don puts a focus on the status, trends, and new technologies for monitoring and managing the diverse red tides appearing around the world. Our recent blog post has more information about Don's presentation as well as red tides and red seaweed.
