Patient Success Story: Meet Nate!
|
|
"Nate’s been with Medical Support Services since he was released from the NICU 5 years ago. Coming here has been his home and all of his therapists have been great at working with him to overcome challenges from all sides. Over the last 5 years, we’ve seen huge improvements. Nate has always been a very determined and motivated child who works hard to overcome his struggles both in therapy and at home. When he was born, he wasn’t able to use or move his left hand/arm. Due to surgery and years of therapy, he’s continually discovering new things he can do with that hand. Just yesterday, he held a plate with righty and threw away trash on the plate with lefty! He gets so excited with every new accomplishment that it really makes traveling this journey with him fun and exciting. Over the last few months, we’ve really noticed huge improvements in his speech and his ability to communicate. This has been an area we’ve struggled in and he’s really been working hard at practicing saying words that are tough to say and it’s becoming noticeable to everyone who knows him. We’ve also seen improvements with his use of sign language and his talker as he’s trying to communicate better with his friends and anyone working with him. It’s amazing how far he’s come and how hard he continues to work. We’re very proud of him!"

"Nate has demonstrated improved bilateral coordination to perform jumping, hopping, and skipping. Additionally, Nate has demonstrated great improvements with his balance through Aquatic Therapy. Moreover, he has improved his leg strength and core strength through all his hard work in the pool. His sense of adventure and imagination have evolved and always make each session wonderful!" -
Nicole, PTA
"I have had the pleasure of working with Nate since July, 2018. Since then, he has made many gains both big and small. He continues to increase his independence with ADL tasks and is always finding new things he can do with lefty. Nate always comes to therapy with a smile on his face and is ready to work hard! His awesome attitude and contagious smile are sure to brighten everyone's day."

Employee of the Quarter: Nicole!
Nicole has been with us since January 2018 and has quickly become a pivotal member in our PT department. She was a key team player during our move into our new clinic at the start of the summer and continues to have a positive, outgoing personality among our staff. As a PTA, Nicole does an excellent job challenging her patients to achieve new motor milestones while taking the time to get to know and connect with each child and their family. Nicole consistently goes above and beyond with volunteering to take on extra clinic projects outside of her patient caseload and has shown a true passion for the pediatric therapy world! Thank you for all that you do, Nicole.
Congratulations!
