As we enter these first months of the new year and find ourselves deep in the Winter Season,
Wisdom, Strength and Courage are the emotions we need to practice to help ourselves deal
with the anxieties of life today.
We have spoken a lot over the last few newsletters about how to do little things each day to
ground ourselves, clear our energy, keep our balance. Deep breathing morning and night,
taking time to connect with nature, stretching and smiling when we get up to start the day right
and more.
We are surrounded by the concerns for our world and sometimes the sense that there is little
we can do to help.
The reality is that little things done by many people can create ripples of change for our world
too.
Even as we feel the long, dark days of winter, remember that each day the daylight is increasing
as we move toward spring. Under the stark beauty of winter, with its brown colors and dry
leaves on the ground, the seeds of beauty that will blossom in spring are buried in the earth,
resting, restoring and rejuvenating. We need to take these signs of hope into our lives and offer
light and love in all the small ways we can. That is how we change the world. One small act at a
time. Rest, restore, rejuvenate. Stay grounded in love and connection. Spring is on the way.
“Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without words
And never stops at all.
And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard
And sore must be the storm,
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm.
I’ve heard it in the chilliest land
And on the strangest Sea,
Yet – never – in Extremity
It asked a crumb – of me.
