Horatio Monitoring SystemHoratio

As lighting systems have grown more complex, the need to remotely monitor these systems has grown.   Ben Peoples Industries offers the Horatio Monitoring System: a manufacturer-agnostic system that monitors the health and status of lighting control networks.

Horatio is clou d-based: it bridges between your secure lighting network and the internet, either through the building's wired network or its own internal cellular connection.   This allows the system to be self-monitoring; unlike most monitoring systems, Horatio can send alerts to tell you that the system's intern connection is down, rather than just going silent.

Horatio collects system logs, actively monitors most network systems, and provides all of that data on an easy to use, secure, website.   Additionally, since we've already created the connection to the internet, you can use this website to trigger remote preset recall.

When your client wants to be able to make the building lighting change colors from their phone?   That's Horatio.

Horatio provides realtime, remote diagnostic information.   One of our customers was out of town when a building owner called with a lighting system that wouldn't turn on.   Pulling up the monitoring history on his phone, he was able to correlate a power failure with unrelated work that was being done by an electrician a few days prior.

The bottom line is this: can you afford to not monitor your lighting systems?  Contact Ken Lager for more information.
Introducing Crestron Zum
Zum
Crestron Zum starts with some simple building block devices and provides you with an exceptionally simple way to design and set up your lighting control system. All Zum devices intelligently 'pair and play' with the simple tap of a keypad, dimmer or IPhone. The Zum app makes it easy to:
  • name and combine rooms
  • set scenes
  • optimize daylighting
  • set up a time clock for scheduled events
  • execute temporary overrides

The different types of Zum devices are also very easy to associate. Zum Load Controllers can switch loads, dim 0-10v as well as universal phase dim up to 1,920 watts. Zum dimmers and Keypads use standard back box installation or battery powered keypads for mounting anywhere, even on glass or brick. Zum Occupancy Sensors provide in room occupancy or vacancy sensing as well as room usage data to Zum cloud services. Zum Daylight Sensors automatically adjust lighting based on natural light levels. Zum Network Bridge is needed to set up and manage spaces re motely.

With Crestron Zum, building wide lighting control is as easy as in room lighting control. Crestron Zum can also communicate with AV, shades and HVAC. Zum Cloud services provides you with the ability to receive usage data on your lights. Built in reporting capability allows you to reduce your energy consumption, justify budgets and drive future planning.

Zum is completely scalable by starting with a few spaces, adding more as needed and eventually graduate to a full centralized lighting control system.

Crestron, the world leader in controls and integration technology, has been designing and manufacturing manual and motorized roller shades, roman shades, and drapery track since 2012. The advanced features of control and automation that Crestron is known for carries over to their shading portfolio. Designed and manufactured in-house, the unique Quiet Motor Technology TM (QMT) brushless DC motor provides greater reliability, much longer life, and ultra-quiet operation. Worth noting, the motor is backed by a limited lifetime warranty. It provides superior torque in a small package - a single motor is able to power a shade as narrow as 21 inches or as wide as 10 feet. Variable Speed Control (VSC) settings in 1/10th RPM increments offer an unprecedented level of precision. Plus it eliminates the carbon dust generated by motors utilizing brushes. The Digital QMT motor integrates seamlessly into the complete Crestron ecosystem, allowing owners to adjust their shades, lighting, audio, video, temperature, door locks, and more from any device they choose, including Crestron touch screens, iP ad®, or their smartphone. Many fabric choices are available from our manufacturing partners, including Mermet, Pfifer, and Hartmann & Forbes. For more information on Crestron shades, please contact Valerie McKee.
