Supporting More Students
We are excited to partner with the City of Kirkland, City of Redmond and Lake Washington School District on our shared commitment to supporting students, and their families, who are furthest from educational justice.

We will begin supporting two middle schools next month and add another 4-5 schools in the fall.

We look forward to creating access to resources and opportunities that will help more students overcome barriers.
Mission In Action

We are providing culturally responsive, safe spaces for elementary and middle school students to normalize their emotions in small groups. By reflecting on their experience in this supportive environment, they are able to recognize, label and share their feelings during these challenging times.

At Thorndyke Elementary, Sebastian works with students on negative self-talk. She uses a “negative self-talk monster” (the bully in our brain that says mean things like “I can’t do this”, or “This is too hard”, or “Nobody likes me”) so students can practice naming their feelings. Working on these skills is more important than ever during these challenging times as it gives students a space to talk through their feelings.
Holiday Cheer
Thanks to our generous community, 74 families were provided holiday cheer this year!
14 families participated in the “shop with a cop” program which is a partnership with City of Renton Police.
$7,550 worth of gift cards provided to families for holiday meals and gifts.
8 families were adopted by the Renton Fire Fighters in the annual holiday adoption partnership.
Annual Personal Care Drive
As with our holiday gift drive, our personal care drive is shifting toward a more community centric model of support.

We will collect gift cards for families to purchase culturally relevant, meaningful items and are asking for $25 increments (cash donations also accepted.)
