'Stuff the Bus' Coming to Annandale

The countywide "Stuff the Bus" food drive will be collecting donations for the ACCA Food Pantry at the Annandale Giant Food at 7137  Columbia Pike on February 10 from 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. After the holidays, donations taper off and food pantries need your help. We encourage you to go shopping that day and pick up something extra for the ACCA Pantry.

ACCA also needs volunteers for 2-hour shifts at the Giant store and to transport and shelve the donations. This is an especially good opportunity for students who need community service hours. To sign up, please contact Jean Rackowski at (703) 914-8066 or henry.jean@verizon.net .
Second Winter Outerwear Collection

ACCA's Tenth Annual Outerwear Clothing Drive to benefit day laborers, homeless men and women and children at the ACCA Child Development Center is under way!

Challenge Campaign - Last Call!

ACCA's annual Challenge Campaign concludes on January 31. If you have not yet made a donation, we hope to hear from you. Individual donations are an important source of support for the work ACCA does in our community. It is people like YOU who make our services possible. Please send your check payable to ACCA to 7200 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA 22003. Remember to mark "Challenge" on the subject line.

You can also give safely and securely online via PayPal or the  Catalogue of Philanthropy.
Hypothermia Shelter Needs

Individuals and groups are invited to prepare the evening meal for either on-site or off-site hypothermia guests.

Bag lunches are needed for the guests to take with them during the day to eat prior to returning to the shelter each evening.

Welcome kits are also needed at the Baileys Shelter.  These are easily assembled using a quart plastic zip bag and should include a comb, bar of soap, wash cloth, deodorant, shaving cream, razors, feminine hygiene items, nail files, several band aids, tooth brush,  and tooth paste.

For more information about shelter needs or to have questions answered, please call Mary Lee Di Spirito at 703/256-9513 or ddmld@verizon.net.  She serves as ACCA's liaison with the Baileys Crossroads  Shelter.

CROP Walk Totals In

CROP Hunger Walk

The 2017  Annandale CROP Hunger Walk raised a total of $18,011 for Church World Service (CWS). Eleven ACCA churches participated through donors, walkers, and/or volunteers. The CROP Walk raises funds for Church World Service, which works to provide hunger and disaster relief, clean water and improved sanitation around the world. CWS provides disaster relief in the US and returns part of the funds raised to community organizations that fight hunger. In December ACCA received a check from CWS for $3985, as part of the local share. Thanks to the top fundraising church, John Calvin Presbyterian Church ($5929) and to the top fundraising walker, Sally Norris of United Baptist Church ($5815).
