MLK Casserole Collection 2017
The 2017 MLK Casserole Drive exceeded all expectations. We collected a total of 642 casseroles, this broke last year's record by over 200!
Our volunteers delivered the casseroles to The Bethesda Project in Philadelphia, Safe Harbor in West Chester, Wayne Presbyterian, Saint David's and  Saint Isaac Jogues Churches, and the Great Valley Food Cupboard, Devon. All were extremely thankful for the much needed boost to their food supplies.
We would like to thank the 7th and 8th grade boys' and girls' basketball teams, Student Council, The Bulldog Ambassadors, Mrs. Rickel's student volunteers, 7th grade students and teachers, team 6A, and to the entire TEMS staff for their support. Thank you to all the parents and students who took the time to make casseroles over the weekend. Whether you made one, two or multiple casseroles your time, the effort and support of this project is what makes it so successful.
As always, this project would not be possible without the support of Mr. Phillips, the office staff, the cafeteria staff and the custodians.
Thanks,
Eileen Ryle and Carrie Erickson

What's Happening Around the School...
Kudos Korner-
Geo Bee-
Each year thousands of schools in the U.S. participate in the National Geographic Bee. The contest is designed to motivate students to learn about the world and how it works. At TEMS, 39 student geographers competed in this academic contest, and Mr. Krimsky and Mr. Phillips were impressed with their extensive knowledge of world geography and culture. The results of the school-wide competition were as follows: First place- Conan C. (6th grade), Second place- Jack S.(8th grade), and Third place-Sanjay A.(8th grade). Conan will take the Pennsylvania State online test to see if he qualifies for the Pennsylvania Geography Bee slated for March 31 in Harrisburg.

Math Competition-
Congratulations to the TEMS students who competed at the Princeton PRIME Math Competition on Saturday, January 14, 2017.  The competition involved two individual written rounds and two team rounds. The highest scoring overall individual competitor was Andrew H. The first place team was the TEMS team made up of: Andrew H., Andy M., David W., Eric Z. TEMS girls were standouts - 7th graders Reese W. and Rachel J. received awards for 2nd and 3rd places, respectively, among the young women competitors. Way to go, Bulldogs!

News from the Nurse-
Reminder to 6th Grade parents-
One hundred and thirty eight (138) students still have not turned in a 6th grade PHYSICAL exam report. Pennsylvania School Health Code requires that all students in sixth grade receive a physical examination. Families were informed of this mandate in June 2016, at the end of the school year. If you have not already done so, please have your child's doctor complete a physical exam report and return it to the nurse as soon as possible. If your child's doctor does not have their own form, blank TESD physical exam forms can be printed from the Student Health Services web page. It can be reached from the T/E district (Departments) or TEMS home page (for Parents).

Reminder to 7th Grade Parents-
One hundred and thirty six (136) students still have not turned in a 7th grade DENTAL exam report. Pennsylvania School Health Code requires that all students in 7th grade receive a dental examination. Families were informed of this mandate in June 2016, at the end of the school year. If you have not already done so, please have your child's dentist complete a dental exam report and return it to the nurse as soon as possible. Blank TESD dental exam forms can be printed from the Student Health Services web page. It can be reached from the T/E district (Departments) or TEMS home page (for Parents).
Reminder letters with be mailed home at the end of January to 6th and 7th grade families who have not turned in the above reports.

Student Drop-off & Pick-up By Car-
Please do not drop-off or pick-up students at the District Network Operations Center (NOC) parking lot across Howellville Road from TEMS. There is not a direct crosswalk from the NOC parking lot to TEMS due to Penna. Dept. of Transportation regulations. Student drop-off and pick -up should occur in the parking lots off of Conestoga Rd. and Old Lancaster Road. Walkers should use the designated sidewalks and crosswalks at the intersection of Howellville, Conestoga, and Cassatt Rds. A crossing guard is stationed at the intersection before & after school. At no time are cars permitted to drive through the bus loading area. "NO PARKING" in the bus loading area will be enforced 7 days a week.
