Due to the winter storm system anticipated this weekend and to allow for snow removal operations, Director of Public Works has declared a town wide parking ban. The ban begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 and concludes at 6 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, except for Main Street, which will begin on Sunday January 20 at midnight.
While in effect, no parking is permitted on town streets. Vehicles may be ticketed and/or towed at the vehicle owner's expense.
According to the National Weather Service, heavy snow is expected to arrive in the area Saturday evening and continue into the day Sunday. Total snow accumulations of 15 to 18 inches are possible.
For anyone traveling during the storm, motorists are reminded to avoid crowding snowplows and to allow emergency vehicles to pass.
