Winter Relief!
The Arkive: Ark and Dove's Newsletter
All are welcome at both the 9:30 (choir led) and 11:00 (band led) worship services!
Message from Pastor Tim

Dear Friends and Members of Ark and Dove,

It is day five of Winter Relief and Ark and Dove is providing terrific hospitality to our guests. Under the leadership of Ylonda Fauntleroy and Deb Saylor, and their team leaders, it has been smooth sailing and the men tell me that they feel more than welcome. Since we always serve in the first week of Winter Relief, we catch men as they are coming out of tents and or couch surfing. You can tell the summer was rough but at Ark and Dove they find genuine welcome. Thank you to the scores and scores of you for the parts you have played in extending Christ's hospitality.  Your discipleship is both effective and appreciated.
Cheryl Walcutt Winter Relief preparation
Please keep your eyes open for a Stewardship mailer this coming week. We are not running a campaign this autumn, we are engaging in a consensus building process, and we need your prayers and participation.

The Board of Education is meeting this Wednesday ( 2644 Riva Road, Annapolis), and several people from ACT (Anne Arundel Connecting Together), will be testifying about the slow pace of testing our public school water for lead.  Many people are going just to show support. I am heading down there, and I would like to bring ten people from Ark and Dove with me. We are trying to get yellow ACT t-shirts made, but wear yellow if you come. Sign up in the lobby on Sunday.

Wendy Wellington and Cheryl Schafer are in Guatemala this week, traveling with the Presbytery of Baltimore and learning about the fourfold ministries of CEDEPCA (the Protestant Center for Pastoral Studies in Central America): Disaster Relief; Women's Ministries and Empowerment; Biblical and Theological Seminary; and Intercultural Exchanges. Traveling to learn about another country and culture is a powerful act of peacemaking. Please hold Wendy and Cheryl in your prayers, and we will see you on Sunday in worship.

Peace of Christ,

Verse and Prayer
Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind: “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up your loins like a man, I will question you, and you shall declare to me.
- Job 38:1-3
God of grace unbounded: we thank you for the light of another day, for work we are given to do and the strength and skills with which to do it. We thank you for your truth, that both conveys your will to us and lights the path we are to follow. We thank you for your Spirit that moves in and among us, energizing us to fulfill the tasks of servanthood even when our resources seem insufficient or have been consumed to their lowest ebb. We thank you that in your generosity you continue to supply these things when we do not deserve them or when we accept them but do not use them. Your way is wonderful beyond explaining, and for that we are most thankful of all: that because it is your way, we need not try to explain it, but may be content to rejoice in it.

Notes for you!
It was delightful to have Laura Doughty play the flute with us last Sunday. What a wonderful addition to our service! In this coming week we are singing God Is in This Room as our anthem, a beautiful arrangement by Ruth Elaine Schram and John Parker. Come and enjoy this Sunday!

Interim Music Director
Our Winter Relief guests have arrived. It is such a blessing that our congregation can pull together to support the community and provide a safe haven for our guests. Let's join together this Sunday to provide a welcoming worship service for the guests who would like to attend so they can feel the presence of God's love through us. Also, LOGOS is going well, and we are excited to present the song we've been working through soon! Rend Collective - Rescuer.

God bless!
