It has been a year of immense growth for Global Seed Savers.  With your help, we can reach our fundraising goal and begin 2020 with a strong start!
We'd like to share some program highlights of 2019:
- Over  250 new farmers trained across
5 Provinces and  6 Municipalities .
- Conducted seven different Technical Training Programs including (Seed School, Seed School Teacher Training, Introduction to Permaculture).
- Expanded our program model to Cebu, forming the Cebu Seed Savers.
- Hired our second  staff member in the Philippines.
- Hired BASS Farmer to lead on-field monitoring and evaluation in Benguet.
- Provided over $3,000 of typhoon relief support to BASS Farmers.
- Our team attended and spoke at 4 international conferences in New Mexico, Thailand, and the Philippines.

All of this work is possible because of generous donors like yourself. Please join us and continue to help us build food and seed sovereignty to support farmer community leaders across the Philippines.

As 2019 comes to a close, help support our work.
We are only $3,000 short of our goal!

News From the Field:
A Coming Together for Seeds

Last month our team in the Philippines along with the support of the Benguet Association of Seed Savers (BASS) gathered in Baguio City to host our first fundraising event in the Philippines!

The evening was filled with excitement as we served a meal prepared by acclaimed
French Chef Aklay (who has lived in the Philippines for over 20 years). Guests enjoyed cultural music performed by Pag-Ta and we set up a market stand to sell organic vegetables, seeds, and other goods.
Due to the success of the event, BASS will be hosting a weekly Saturday market at Hill Station to sell their organic products. We are excited for this opportunity to promote our work and support our farmers!
During the event we shared about the urgent need to save seeds for food sovereignty in these times of climate uncertainty. BASS Farmer Pastor Andrew Bandiwan shared his story of success with his seed saving journey. We took the time to honor our incredible partner farmers at BASS  for building and maintaining our founding seed library in Tubaly. Their efforts and persistence in promoting seed saving and organic farming around the Philippines continue to deepen our impact.
It was a wonderful gathering of local supporters and we look forward to hosting more events in the Philippines in the future!
 Welcome New Board Member:
 Katie Goodrich

We are thrilled to welcome Katie Goodrich to the Global Seed Saves US Board of Directors.   During the day Katie is a  partner at a Denver-area law firm, MoGo LLC, where she advocates on behalf of insurance policy holders against property insurance companies. She received her law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
Katie has been passionate about sustainable food systems since studying cultural ecology while earning her undergraduate degree in sociology and anthropology at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont. Katie was also fortunate enough to study food system adaptations in high-altitude communities in the Tyrol region of Northern Italy. Through these experiences, Katie gained an appreciation of how community participation in the global economic system can sometimes result in diminishing biodiversity and a corresponding loss of resilience. She is eager to learn from the local farmers who make up the Global Seed Savers community. She is awed by what Global Seed Savers has accomplished since its foundation in 2011, and hopes to facilitate access to seed saving technology to more communities through our network. In her free time, Katie enjoys cooking, skiing, and exploring the Rocky Mountains.

Join us in welcoming Katie to the GSS family!
