Important Information and Resources
Regarding the 2021 Winter Storms
On February 20, 2021, President Biden issued a major disaster declaration for the state of Texas, ordering federal assistance to supplement state and local recovery efforts for areas affected by severe winter storms.

In an effort to provide Texans with the resources to recover from the recent winter weather emergency, we updated our web page dedicated to providing information on assistance from federal, state, and local sources. Also included are tips to help with insurance claims and guidance on how to report price gouging and other disaster recovery scams.

Please note that this web page also contains resources dedicated to providing homeowners, renters, REALTORs, lenders, and non-profits with assistance related to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. We continue to update this page as additional information and resources become available.
TSAHC Recognizes Top 2020 Lenders
Despite all of its challenges, 2020 was the year that many Texans achieved their goals of buying a home. In partnership with our network of dedicated mortgage loan officers, TSAHC helped 16,325 families purchase a home last year.

In total, our home buyer programs provided more than $3.1 billion in mortgage loans and $131 million in down payment assistance to Texans in 2020. Additionally, 2,622 of the 16,325 households served were able to access a Mortgage Credit Certificate, a mortgage interest tax credit specifically for first-time home buyers that reduces their federal income taxes every year.
Top Loan Officers
Every year, TSAHC recognizes the three top-producing loan officers who helped the most families purchase a home with our programs. With more than 2,900 loan officers originating at least one loan in 2020, this is a significant achievement. This year's awards are presented to:

The Housing Market Will Be Uniquely Affected by the COVID-19 Vaccine
This is a guest blog post by Evette Zalvino, a writer for HomeLight.com, a website that empowers people to achieve better outcomes when buying or selling a home.

Last year was difficult for millions of people in this country, due to rampant unemployment, an uncontained virus, an economic downturn, and the very real chance of experiencing homelessness. As bleak as 2020 was, the future is starting to look a little brighter, thanks to the release of COVID-19 vaccines that have an efficacy rate of 95%.

Every quarter TSAHC spotlights a staff member or partner to help our readers get to know our mission and industry a little better. This week, we are spotlighting TSAHC's Senior Accounting Manager, Betsy Aldrich.

Originally from Lansing, Michigan, Betsy is a part of our Accounting team. In addition to handling accounts payable and financial recordkeeping, she oversees the grant awards that TSAHC receives as well as the financial activity of our Affordable Communities of Texas program.
Why We Love Tax Season
It's been roughly a year since the COVID-19 pandemic began spreading across the U.S., and many Texans still continue to feel the effects of the virus' impact on the economy and their household income. Given the financial uncertainty that lingers, saving money during tax season is more important than ever.

Because of this, we want to remind home buyers about our Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) Program and the immense savings they could see in their future.
