Ottawa Rowing Club

Winter Training Postponed

The ORC has just received news that the NCC & the City of Ottawa will be restricting access to the boathouse this winter due to the extensive access requirements needed for the continued construction of the retaining wall behind the boathouse.

The suggestion from the NCC is that the increased access over the winter will provide less interruption during the on-water season. Zak, Meg and Kim are extremely disappointed by this news and are actively pursuing alternative solutions to keep our crews actively training together until the club can re-open in the Spring. Stay tuned for more updates.

Important Club Notices:

Lights & Whistles On The Water

It's that time of year again where most practices either start or finish in the dark. Please remind your crews that all rowers need a personal light and whistle to be on the water and all boats need bow lights!

Parking at the Club

All parking during morning sessions will be reserved exclusively for High Occupancy Vehicles (2 people or more). If you wish to park at the club, you must be carrying at least 2 people during AM practices. Spots Between the ramp and the Boathouse are reserved for coaches.

National Coaches Week

Happy National Coaches Week! We want to quickly recognize all the hard work and dedication put in by our coaches at the Ottawa Rowing Club who help shape our culture and cultivate future leaders. The Club wouldn’t be the same without you!

PD Ross & Head of the Madawaska Recap!

PD Ross

Congratulations to all athletes from Carleton University and the University of Ottawa who competed at this year’s PD Ross Regatta! Returning to the Rideau Canal for the first time in five years, the event saw great racing and plenty of action! In the men’s varsity eight event, a close race ended with Carleton’s Raven clinching the win with a three-second margin over the uOttawa Gee-Gees. The women’s varsity eight race saw just as much action, with the Gee-Gees taking home the victory with a seven-second gap. The PD Ross trophy, presented to the team with the best combined time, was therefore won by the uOttawa Gee-Gees with a five-second margin over Carleton’s Ravens! Congratulations to everyone, and a special shoutout to all the coaches, athletes and volunteers who took part in planning the event!
