Hello Friends!
I hope that this email finds you safe and healthy at home. This has really been a year of 1 step forward and 2 steps back. We were "this" close to being able to open the Rocklin Library to indoor browsing again, but the increased incidents of community spread of the COVID-19 virus has rightly led to the postponement of that blessed occasion. While we still can't venture in to the building, our Rocklin Library Staff have braved the elements to offer hold pickups; now with expanded hours!
Just like you, we've been Zooming in order to carry out the business of our organization. We even had an online Christmas party! With our newfound online communications expertise, we are going to bring you our first ever Zoom Rocklin Community Forum in the first quarter of 2021! We'll announce the details once everything is finalized. We expect it to be an educational and informational evening.
It's true that a lot of our most popular programs and offerings are going to remain on pause for a while longer; however, we'll be creative where we can to try and make life a little more awesome when we are able. Follow our Facebook page for the most up to date information on the Rocklin Library and the Friends.
The Rocklin Library is offering more times for materials pickup! The hours are as follows: Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30am- 4:00pm; Wednesday from 12:00-6:00pm; and Friday from 12:00-5:00pm. Be sure to order up your materials through your library account and set your pickup location to Rocklin, and you’ll get an email when your holds are ready to be retrieved. You may now return materials 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Late fees have been reinstated. Due to the need for materials to quarantine a few days, you may notice a small lag on materials coming off of your account; but never fear, they will!
The Friends held their annual election of officers in November and our 2021 Board of Directors are: Getta Dolinsek - President; Michele Vass - Vice President; Suzanne Kenyon - Treasurer; and Alice Pennington & Carol Peterson - Secretaries. Thank you for volunteering to serve our organization and our library!
I'd like to personally thank you all for the generous gifts you have given our organization this year. Be it your time, talent, or treasure, you have made an impact in our community by helping us advocate for our library and furthering the cause of literacy. There are people in our community who have opportunities today because you gave to support their literacy journey.
Merry Christmas from my home to yours. Wishing you happiness, good health, and peace until we meet again.
Michele Vass
President
