Weather Advisory: Nor'easter Set To Impact NYS
(Brooklyn, NY) -- New York is bracing for a Nor'easter, which is expected to impact the City and cover much of the East Coast in snow. The storm is expected to create snowfall beginning this evening around 7pm and last through 7pm Saturday. Heavy snowfalls of 10-16 inches are expected with up to 1.5 inches accumulating per hour and winds up to 45 miles per hour. A weather advisory is in place for New York. Prepare to stay at home if possible.

  • Alternate side parking will be suspended.
  • To check plow progress, click here.
  • To report snow or ice on streets/highways visit here.
  • Drive only if necessary.
  • Trash, recycling, and compost collections will be delayed until further notice. Find out about collection schedules here.
  • Reports any down trees to 311.
  • Treat any down wires as live wires and report to 311.
  • Report smoking manholes to 800-752-6633.
  • Open Streets and Open Restaurants outdoor seating will be suspended starting at 8pm tonight.
  • Testing sites are closed through Saturday.
  • Coned will be working around the clock to address any power outages.

  • Safety Tips 
  • Equip your home with batteries, water, and food.
  • When shoveling snow, pace yourself and take breaks in between.
  • Contact family and friends and neighbors; and give special attention to older adults and people with disabilities to make sure they are safe.
The City hires emergency snow laborers to help clear snow from pedestrian features once all streets have been cleared.
Pedestrian features include:
  • Crosswalks along major commercial streets.
  • Streets in front of bus stops.
  • Pedestrian medians.
