Town of Herndon, VA Seeks Virginia State Bar Member for the Architectural Review/Historic Review Boards (ARB/HDRB)
The Town of Herndon is in immediate need of a member of the Virginia State Bar to serve on the Town’s Architectural Review Board (ARB) and Historic District Review Board (HDRB). Members serve three-year terms; residency within the Town of Herndon qualification as a registered voter are required. Members receive $3,000 per year. In-person meetings are on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m. in Herndon. The attorney position serves a vital role on the ARB/HDRB in considering exterior modifications to structures within the Town. The ARB has jurisdiction over all structures except detached single-family homes, while the HDRB has jurisdiction over structures in the Historic District.

The Town of Herndon is in immediate need of a member to the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA). Members serve five-year terms; residency within the Town of Herndon and qualification as a registered voter are required. Members receive $900 per year. In-person meetings are on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in Herndon. The board is responsible for hearing appeals of the zoning administrator decisions and determining whether variances from the town’s zoning regulations, based on special physical characteristics of their properties, should be granted.
