Coming in December: workshops and new class options!
We held our Open House in November, and it felt like a big party! We appreciate everyone who stopped by, and those who could not be there were missed.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our studio by taking classes, telling friends about us, and offering words of encouragement. We would not be here without your support!

There's a lot happening at the studio in December, so we hope to see you soon for a workshop or in class!

Healing from Work-Based Stress and Trauma

Rescheduled from November, this workshop will be held on Sunday, December 3 from 3:00-5:00pm.

Whether you work in an emergency department, are a first responder, active duty soldier, or veteran, or are feeling the stresses of the everyday battle of life, this workshop can teach you how to ease the damage that stress and trauma cause the body and mind.

In addition to tight muscles and other bodily aches and pains, work-based trauma and stress may result in depression, PTSD, or feelings of isolation and being alone in the world. The heart is especially sensitive to the effects of stress which may show up as heart disease or high blood pressure.

Yoga has been demonstrated to be a highly effective tool to counteract stress. In this workshop, you will experience simple yoga techniques proven to reduce stress and help with trauma recovery.

This workshop includes a combination of discussion and practice (breath work, yoga poses, guided relaxation and meditation), leaving you with techniques that contribute to physical and mental wellness.

No prior yoga experience is needed. Mats, chairs, and all yoga accessories provided, but you may bring your own mat if you prefer.

Winter Wellness Yoga

Insulate your well-being in this workshop designed to prepare you for the Winter months. Quiet the mind, refresh, support wellness, and power up the immune system.

This workshop will include a gentle, moderately-paced practice, including poses and breath work fitting for this time of the year. Focus includes myofascial releasing, stretching, and restorative poses to stimulate the lymphatic system, condition lungs and respiratory tract, and help lower stress hormones. Stress breaks down the body’s ability to defend and heal from illness and increases inflammation, so lowering stress hormones and finding a sense of calm is especially important during Winter months.

Participants will also receive information on nutrition and other routines and habits that support overall wellness during the colder months.

Open to all levels of experience.

You may wish to bring a journal or notebook.

When : Saturday December 16th 3:00-4:30pm
Led by : Cora Houghton
Cost : $20 early registration / $25 after December 9

Yin Yoga & Reiki Healing by Candlelight

Join Yoga Instructor & certified Reiki practitioner Jen Elder for a unique yoga experience: Yin Yoga and Reiki Healing by Candlelight.

Yin Yoga is a meditative and passive yoga practice involving variations of seated and reclined postures typically held for 3-5 minutes. Yin yoga helps to teach the mind and body to slow down, cultivating awareness and inner peace. The longer duration of the poses allows the stretch to move into the connective tissues of the body, increasing circulation and flexibility.

Reiki is a Japanese energetic technique used widely for stress reduction, relaxation, and healing. Reiki treats the whole person – body, emotions, mind, and spirit. This gentle technique assists with clearing away of “energetic clutter”, things that you may not even be aware are there. It is an extremely gentle practice and a great way to release and relax as we welcome the new year.
