Winter Wonderfest returns to BHS Dec. 9-10!
The Barrington High School Fine Arts Department is proud to present the 3rd Annual Winter Wonderfest! Tickets for this district-wide event are now on sale. Winter Wonderfest runs December 9-10, and it will be an open house with performances happening primarily inside the fine arts area at BHS. The event will include DJs, carnival games, holiday crafts, hot chocolate for purchase and more! All tickets are $10 per person.
Major construction progress at BHS
If you have been around Barrington High School lately, then you have probably noticed a lot of Build 220 progress! Construction crews are working to complete the tennis courts, as well as putting the finishing touches on the new turf field and varsity baseball field on the north side of the building. In addition, crews are continuing to work on the new front atrium addition on the south side of the building and the Fields of Dreams complex.

Build 220 construction also continues this month at Countryside Elementary and Hough Street Elementary, with completion at both schools anticipated for this winter. Click the link for each school to view updated photos and videos!

Arnett C. Lines ElementaryBarbara B. Rose Elementary and North Barrington Elementary are currently in the Design phase, with construction anticipated to begin in Summer 2023.
Reminder: Barrington 220 closed on Election Day
Illinois recognizes Election Day as a state holiday, therefore, Barrington 220 will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 8. As a reminder, school is in session on Monday, Nov. 7. Click here to locate your polling place.
Nov. 9 "Join us for Java" canceled
Please note, the "Join us for Java" scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 5:30pm at the Panera Bread in Fox River Grove has been canceled. We hope you can attend the next "Join us for Java" on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 8:30am at Pepper Park Coffee.
Safety tips for parents/guardians during an emergency
During an emergency situation at one of our schools, it is important for our community to work together. Barrington 220 has developed this tip sheet for parents/guardianswhich shares specific actions parents/guardians should take in the event of an emergency.

In other safety news, this year Barrington 220 is utilizing an Illinois school safety helpline as an additional tool aimed at providing students a place to report information that might prevent bullying, suicide, and campus violence. The program, Safe2Help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It allows students to confidentially share school safety issues. Click here to visit the Safety 220 webpage and learn more!
Nominate outstanding D220 teachers, administrators, and school personnel!
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is looking for nominations for the Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year Awards. These awards honor individuals who have made significant contributions to Illinois’ public and nonpublic preK-12 schools. Any person or organization may submit nominations for the awards. ISBE will honor the 2023 Teacher of the Year finalists and all Those Who Excel award winners at a banquet on April 29, 2023. The deadline to submit a nomination is Nov. 18. Prairie and Station girls basketball raising money for Special Olympics
Come support the girls basketball teams from Station and Prairie, as they take on the girls basketball teams in Arlington Heights School District 25 to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois! The "Brave Challenge" will take place on Friday, Nov. 11 beginning at 4pm at Thomas Middle School and South Middle School in Arlington Heights. If you can't make it, click here to donate!
Who Gets In and Why: Inside College Admissions
This school year Barrington 220 is partnering with the Family Action Network, a non-profit organization that curates a high-quality speaker series. All events are free and open to the public. An upcoming event "Who Gets In and Why: Inside College Admissions" will be held in-person on Nov. 30 at 7pm at Stevenson High School. Click here for more information.
New mental health resource available for D220 families and staff
Barrington 220 is committed to the well-being of our students, staff, and families in order to create a safe and healthy learning environment. The district is partnering with Care Solace, which helps individuals find mental health care providers and substance use treatment centers in our community. BCGT hosting virtual Monthly Wisdom program
The Barrington Council for the Gifted and Talented (BCGT) invites students, parents and educators for its virtual November Monthly Wisdom Program, "Dreams, Grit, Joy & Gratitude". Learn how to support and encourage your child on their journey to success, while prioritizing their mental health. Speakers include Sheri Gazitt, Teen and Parent Coach and Pam Coburn-Litvak, Neuroscientist and Stress Researcher. The virtual event will take place on Thursday, November 17 at 7pm.
