Maritime Fun Fact: The average water temperature in San Francisco Bay in winter reaches 51.8°F.
The holidays and the new year are a time for gratitude. I would like to thank our community for your continued support in another pandemic year. Despite the evolving COVID-19 challenges we hosted the Day on the Bay event, secured a commercial fisherman to sell fresh fish to the public and made numerous updates to our waterfront amenities including a new fishing pier.

Our accomplishments are thanks to the vision and leadership of the Board of Port Commissioners as well as the hard work and dedication of our Port team. We would also like to thank the City of Redwood City for their collaboration and partnership.

With strong local, regional and national partnerships, the Port is poised to serve Silicon Valley and the greater San Mateo County region. We are moving into the next year with diligent and strategic planning to keep the Port and our partners thriving. We are proud to be a part of the international system that keeps goods moving, all while supporting our local economy.

From the Port team to your family, we wish you happy holidays and a joyful new year.
Warm Regards,
Kristine A. Zortman

The Port conducts international business daily, connecting the greater Silicon Valley region to global markets. Here are a few countries we import and export goods to:

  • Australia
  • Bangladesh

The public fishing pier is nearly complete
We are thrilled to share that our newly renovated fishing pier will be completed in early 2022. The Port of Redwood City looks forward to having the fishing community cast lines into Redwood Creek this winter.

Our previous public fishing pier was built in the 1960s. Since then, the Port of Redwood City has been a local hotspot for fishing. The updated fishing pier along with the new pergola and barbeques are just a few ways the Port is bringing recreation opportunities to the waterfront.

Call for sponsorships coming soon
We love serving Silicon Valley and our local non-profits. For 2021, our Port sponsorship program awarded ten local non-profit organizations. Organizations seeking sponsorship need to demonstrate an overarching focus on maritime and waterfront recreation activities to enhance the local community. The key focus areas for sponsorship opportunities include:

  • Economic Growth
  • Environmental Stewardship
  • Youth and Education
  • Community Benefit

At the beginning of each year, we host a call for sponsorships within our community. To learn more about the Port sponsorship program or to apply for the upcoming year, visit our website
