Starting at Zero explores the power of investing in high-quality early childhood education so that all children and families have the opportunity to attain the American Dream.

The film brings together the voices of policymakers, educators, academics, business leaders, pediatricians, parents, and children. It features five current and past governors who are champions of early childhood education: Governors Steve Bullock of Montana, Kay Ivey of Alabama, and Ralph Northam of Virginia, as well as former Governors Jim Hunt of North Carolina, and Phil Bryant of Mississippi.

Listen & Move Storytime - January 9th & 23rd
Listen a little and move a little with this fun storytime. Join Miss Michelle every other Saturday on the Public Libraries of Saginaw's Facebook page. This program is designed for preschool age children but all ages are welcome to participate!  

New Book News! - January 16 & 30
Visit the library Facebook page to hear all about new book titles that are available for check out. Picture books, easy readers, fiction, and non-fiction titles will be reviewed. During each session about 8-10 of the best new books will be introduced.
**The Public Libraries of Saginaw is a participant in the STEM Passport. Attend events (in-person or virtual) and receive a $25 gift card courtesy of MiSTEM.

ZEHNDER'S SNOWFEST 2021
Snow and Ice Exhibition
January 29 - 31

Although Snowfest will be different this year, visitors may still enjoy a limited number of larger-than-life snow sculptures and beautifully detailed ice carvings.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s event will not include entertainment, Warming Tent or fireworks but we encourage guests to view the snow and ice sculptures throughout downtown Frankenmuth.

LITTLE FREE LIBRARY

Little Free Libraries are book-sharing boxes where free book exchanges take place. Anyone can take a book or bring a book to share. Our boxes inspire a love of reading, build community, and spark creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges. The libraries can be found throughout Saginaw County.

Make Parenting A Pleasure: Saginaw County
Starting January 5

A Free ONLINE parent support series for caregivers, parents, and grandparents of children ages 0-8. This workshop focuses on building a positive parent-child relationship. It covers topics such as how to play with your child, how to be child-directed, the use of praise and encouragement, and positive discipline techniques such as time-out and planned ignoring.

YMCA of Saginaw is proud to offer FREE healthy meals for every child 18 and under through our Mission Nutrition and Healthy Out of School Time programs.

The meals we serve every school day and everyday throughout the summer help more children get the nutrition they need for good health.

Pick up meals Monday to Friday from 4-6pm.

SAGINAW COUNTY GSC ASQ ONLINE
You've been invited to participate in the Ages & Stages Questionnaires, Third Edition (ASQ-3), to help you keep track of your child's development. The questionnaire may be provided every 2-, 4- or 6- month period. You will be asked to answer questions about some things your child can and cannot do. The questionnaire includes questions about your child's communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and personal social skills.

COVID-19 RESOURCES
VACCINE
The Saginaw County Health Department now has an online COVID-19 vaccine registration form available for non-hospital affiliated health facilities that fall under Phase 1A/Priority Three:

Group A -- Workers with direct patient contact who conduct high-risk procedures (e.g. dentists, endoscopy, dialysis)
Group B -- Outpatient, urgent care, ambulatory care, and home health care
Group C -- Workers who have indirect patient contact with specialized skills critical to the health care system (e.g. laboratories, pharmacies)

TESTING

Everyone is welcome at the Great Lakes Bay Health Centers' drive thru sites for COVID-19 and FREE flu vaccines. There are no symptom requirements or doctor order needed to be tested.
