Please Remove Your Defend Ipswich River Yard Signs for Winter Safekeeping and a New Splash in Spring

Defend Ipswich River Communities (DIRC) asks all lawn sign hosts to remove and store their signs for winter. With Halloween tomorrow, turning back the clocks this weekend, and the inevitable snow over the coming months, it's time to protect our yard signs so they are ready for awareness campaigns later in 2020.

The signs were successful in raising awareness and helped garner large turnouts for the initial 20 Elm ZBA hearing and October Town Meeting. This support and involvement was critical in securing the funds and the ZBA vote for the town to fight the 20 Elm project in an appeal to the Massachusetts Housing Appeals Committee.

If you would like assistance removing or storing your sign, please e-mail info@defendipswichriver.org. DIRC will keep you posted when we are ready to return the signs to yards for a new awareness splash.

Legal Action Continues; Nov. 14 ZBA Hearing Cancelled

In light of the current legal actions surrounding 20 Elm, the North Reading ZBA hearing schedule for Nov. 14 is cancelled. Town Counsel Attorneys Jonathan D. Witten , Barbara Huggins Carboni , and Amy E. Kwesell , all of KP Law, continue to provide expert representation of the town's position. DIRC continues to work with its own Attorney Dan Hill, his associates, and other experts to follow the Housing Appeals Committee process closely, as well as on appeal of the Conservation Commission's Order of Resource Area Delineation. DIRC will advise interested citizens of news as updates become available.
