Don’t Miss Reston’s Favorite Halloween Tradition

Gather your little goblins and head to Walker Nature Center’s Halloween House & Trick-or-Treat Trail for two magical evenings of family-friendly Halloween fun! Meet a whimsical cast of costumed characters, encounter live animals, enjoy games, popcorn, and hot apple cider, and collect treats along the enchanted trail. Children and adults are encouraged to wear their favorite non-scary costumes. While this is not a haunted house or horror event, guests can expect festive sound and light effects throughout the experience.

This popular event regularly sells out, and registration is limited. Recommended for ages 3 and up, with all children accompanied by a registered adult. Secure your tickets today and create lasting Halloween memories with your family!

Interested in helping create the magic? Volunteers are still needed to serve as costumed trail characters and hand out treats. Costumes are provided. Contact Ha Brock at ha@reston.org or 703-435-7986 to volunteer.

Nominations Sought to Fill Vacancy on Board of Directors

Nominations are currently being sought from the RA membership (or their designees) for a vacancy on the RA Board of Directors. This comes following the resignation of At-Large Director Matthew Mullinex, who, in addition to his role as a Director, served as the Board’s Treasurer. Nomination forms are available online or in person at RA headquarters and will be accepted by the Association until noon on Friday, November 6. The Board will then appoint a nominee at the November 19 Board meeting to serve until the results of the next Board election in April 2027.

Hearing Date Approaches for Reston National Property

The Fairfax County Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans for the Reston National Golf Course on November 4. The proposal would introduce several hundred new residential units to the site, replacing open green space that has long been part of the vision outlined in the Reston Master Plan. RA’s Board of Directors continues to oppose this action and encourages you to do the same.
