Winterfest Is Back!!

One of Our Favourite Days of the Year!

Winterfest is back, and we are excited to welcome members, families, friends, and first-time visitors to one of the most fun and inclusive days of the winter season at Caledonia Nordic Ski Club.

Winterfest is all about celebrating winter together. Whether you are an experienced skier, brand new to Nordic sports, or simply looking for a great way to spend a winter day outdoors, there is something for everyone.

Best of all — trail access is FREE all day, making Winterfest the perfect opportunity to invite friends, neighbours, and anyone curious about Nordic skiing to come out and give it a try.

The weather looks to be amazing

After a cold day today, tomorrow is shaping up to be an excellent winter day at the club. The forecast is calling for sunny skies and temperatures warming to a high of around -10°C, which should create comfortable and enjoyable conditions for skiing, snowshoeing, and spending time outdoors.

These are the kind of classic winter conditions we look forward to, and we expect the trails to be a great place to be throughout the day. Dress for the weather, enjoy the sunshine, and we look forward to seeing many of you out at the club tomorrow.

First Chocolate Race of the Season

We are also excited to offer a Chocolate Race for anyone interested in taking part. Chocolate races are designed to give everyone the opportunity to experience a race environment in a fun, relaxed, and supportive way — no pressure and no stress.

Registration must be completed by 10:00 am. Courses will vary based on age and ability, ensuring an appropriate and enjoyable experience for all participants.

SDP athletes receive FREE entry, and entry for all other participants is $2.

A big thank you to Carolyn for organizing and making this event happen. We look forward to seeing lots of smiling faces on the start line.

New Caledonia Nordic Club Apparel Now Available!

We are excited to share a fresh new way for members to show their Caledonia Nordic pride — club clothing is now available online, featuring our new retro 80s–inspired Caledonia logo. Neon vibes, classic style, and plenty of Nordic spirit.

We are proud to partner with Sprague Skate Shack to bring this to life. Through this partnership, members can choose from a wide range of Caledonia Nordic apparel, including zip-ups, pullovers, t-shirts, toques, and more. Whether you are heading out on the trails or wearing it around town, there are lots of great options to suit your style.

Orders are placed online and typically take approximately two weeks to complete. This is a new system for us, so there may be a few small bugs as we get things rolling, but it is an exciting step forward and a great way to support your club while also supporting a local business.

Again, A huge thank you to Aaron and the team at Sprague Skate Shop for making this happen and helping bring Caledonia Nordic apparel — and our new retro look — to the community.

Check out the options, place an order, and wear your Caledonia pride loud and proud.

Grooming is AWESOME!

We would like to take a moment to recognize the incredible work of our grooming team. Despite low snow levels and challenging weather conditions, the groomers have done an outstanding job maintaining the trails and keeping them safe, skiable, and enjoyable for our members.

Working with limited snow requires extra care, creativity, and countless hours of behind-the-scenes effort. The team has been carefully managing snow, adjusting grooming schedules and strategies, and making thoughtful decisions each day to get the most out of the conditions we have.

We know it has not been an easy season, and we are extremely grateful for the dedication, flexibility, and hard work that goes into every groom. Thank you to our groomers for their commitment and for helping us make the most of this winter.possible.

Looking forward to our Next Major Event:

Volunteers Needed

As we come off the incredible momentum of the Teck BC Cup, we’re already setting our sights on another major milestone for the club. From March 5–8, 2026, Caledonia Nordic Ski Club will play host to a combined International Biathlon Union (IBU) Regional Event, Western Canadian Biathlon Championships, and BC Provincial Biathlon Championships.

(Please note: this corrects the date shared in our previous newsletter — the event website has now been updated.)

This multi-day competition will be one of the largest biathlon events in North America, carrying IBU continental sanctioning and attracting athletes from across Canada, the United States, and potentially beyond. It’s an exciting opportunity to once again highlight our trails, facilities, and the depth of our Nordic and biathlon community on a national and international stage.

Events of this scale are only possible with strong volunteer support. As planning continues, we’ll be looking for help in a wide range of roles. Whether you’re able to lend a hand for a single shift or throughout the event, your involvement will be a key part of delivering a successful and memorable championship.

If you are interested in being part of this event, please consider signing up through our Zone4 volunteer registration link:

Thank you, as always, for supporting Caledonia Nordic Ski Club and helping us continue to bring high-level competition to our community.
