Here are the important steps to follow:
1. Follow the instructions in your owners manual exactly as written. Also, you may refer to the 8.5' x 11' laminated sheet that came with your vehicle (let us know if you need one and we will email it to you). We designed our vehicles to operate in all weather conditions with specific features to keep them from freezing.
2. Always winterize if the temperature is 35 degrees or colder.
3. Turn on your water heater and your furnace. Once the furnace is blowing hot, reduce the thermostat to the lowest temperature setting.
Note: DO NOT put a space heater in the salon area of your Wag'n Tails.
The plumbing in the back may freeze if the furnace is disabled. A space heater in the salon will keep the furnace from cycling on and off during the night as we designed. If the furnace is disabled, the duct work from the furnace to the plumbing in back will be defeated and may result in a freeze up.
4. Be sure to keep an eye on your propane tank level so you don't run out overnight. The safest thing to do in the winter months is to keep the propane tank at least 2/3 full.
5. Plug your van into an outlet in your home on a circuit that has no other electrical load on it. If the circuit has an additional appliance on it, a breaker in your home could trip, shutting down the space heater and freezing the plumbing in the van.
6. Use a ceramic heater in the rear of the van and plug it into the outlet marked "Back Plug" or "Rear Plug" only. Prop open your dirty towel chute door.
7. Use your optional anti-freeze system (if equipped) to protect your fresh and Super Sudser water lines.
8. Do not listen to winterizing advice from anyone but us. We designed the procedure to work as an integrated system with built in safeguards. Circumventing that procedure is never a good idea.
Special Note for Inverter Equipped Vehicles.
Never plug any high amperage appliance like a space heater or heated hand dryer into an outlet with the "INVERTER POWERED" label on the outlet.
These outlets flow through the inverter even with the generator running.
Running high amperage appliances through the inverter may damage the inverter and could void the inverter manufacturer's warranty.
