New Winthrop Harbor's Parks & Recreation Department App

The Winthrop Harbor Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce that we now have our own Website and Credit Card Machine! On the website you are able to see our calendar with upcoming events, register your child(ren) for sports (right now, you can register for Baseball/Softball), sign waivers and pay. Maybe, you are needing to rent one of our facilities for an event, you can log in to your account, click on the “Facilities” tab, see the details/pictures of each facility, choose which one would best suit your planned event, and reserve the date.

Free Smoke Detectors

Smoke detector not working?  Not enough of them?  None at all?  Let us help! 

According to the National Fire Protection Association, nearly three out of five home fire deaths were the result of fires without a smoke detector or without a working smoke detector!

Just one working detector can save lives. These devices alert occupants that there is a potential danger, providing a timely warning to escape the home before becoming overcome by smoke and heat. 

To help protect our community, the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department (with the generous assistance of the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, the Illinois State Fire Marshal, and First Alert) is offering to install free smoke detectors for residents in need.

These detectors will not only help protect your family but are compliant with the new state law requiring ten-year sealed detectors to be installed in each residence starting January 1st, 2023.

Our personnel will also speak with you and your family about fire safety for your residence.

At this time, the program is only offered for owners of single family residences, not rental properties or apartments.

New Village of Winthrop Harbor Calendar 

The Village of Winthrop Harbor is always looking for new ways to improve the level of service and the communication we provide our residents and businesses.

We are pleased to announce the transition to a new Village-wide online events calendar hosted on the CalendarWiz platform. This new platform will enhance flexibility, easy user access and provide our residents and businesses with a useful tool to stay informed on upcoming events. This new platform will be integrated with the Village website.

The Village will be collaborating with our regional government and school district partners in information sharing on this new platform.

We will also be posting information from Winthrop Harbor businesses and organizations. If you would like to post an event on this new platform, please email the information to info@withropharbor.com.
