Wipes Clogging Village Infrastructure
Clogged equipment
While wipes, paper towels, and other products may be labeled flushable, they may also clog your pipes, sewer mains, and absolutely do clog the pumps in the sanitary sewer lift stations and the screens at the sewage treatment plant.

Besides creating the potential for expensive sewage backups into homes, it also causes critical maintenance issues that unnecessarily expose Public Works employees and homeowners to raw sewage – which can harbor a variety of diseases, including Covid-19.

Our Public Works Sewer division staff had to recently put on full protective gear and pull pumps from the lift stations to clean out wipes that clogged the pumps.

Please remember that just because a product is labeled "flushable", doesn’t mean you should. Only toilet paper and human waste should be flushed. Help protect yourself and your neighbors from sewage backups, and help protect our crews and homeowners from unnecessary exposure to sewage. Learn More .

Happy Birthday!
The Carol Stream Police Department is providing drive-by Birthday Parades for local children. Even though birthday parties are canceled due to the COVID-19 “stay at home order”, CSPD will help put a smile on their faces with lights and sirens to celebrate their special day.

Requests, for children under 12, must be made three days in advance and may be canceled subject to an increase in police calls for service

For more information please contact us at (630) 668-2167.
Lightning Detector
The Village installed a new lightning detection and warning system at Town Center. This system replaces an older unit, has a 20-mile detection range, and runs off solar power with a back-up battery. Once lightning is detected in the area, it provides an audible alert with strobe lights to warn the public of the lightning threat and to seek cover.

This system will be tested the third Thursday of every month from March to November at 1 pm.

Watch the "Warning" alarm video to learn more.
