R Harper Rose is Heavy Favorite in My Dear Girl

Although Averill Racing LLC and Two Eight Racing LLC's R Harper Rose was a dominant winner of the $200,000 FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes Susan's Girl on Oct. 21, she was a late scratch in the $100,000 FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes Desert Vixen on Sept. 9, costing the bay filly an opportunity to become the fifth filly to sweep the three-race series.

Sound of the Beast Chasing Florida Sire Stakes Bonus in Inaugural

Sound of the Beast is hoping for a clean trip Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs when the Florida-bred colt races in the $50,000 Inaugural, a six-furlong test for 2-year-olds. Sound of the Beast, who was bumped at the start of the $85,000 Juvenile Sprint at Gulfstream Park before finishing second to fellow Florida-bred Squints in his last race on Nov. 11, is also the only juvenile among the field of eight in the Inaugural who will be racing for an additional $50,000 win bonus for Florida Sire Stakes-eligible runners presented by Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.
