Getting Into Position

December 2025

BY FTBOA PRESIDENT VALERIE DAILEY

I want to begin by wishing everyone a Happy Holiday Season and extending a sincere thank you to all who attended our Holiday Open House. Your support and engagement set a positive tone for the year ahead.

As we move from the starting gate into our year together, December is when we get into position—focused, organized, and already taking meaningful action.

Getting into position does not mean waiting. It means preparing with purpose. Over the past several weeks, FTBOA has been actively laying the groundwork for the 2026 legislative session. We have held multiple meetings with key partners and policymakers, completed new board member orientation to ensure alignment and readiness, strengthened our advocacy strategy through ongoing planning and coordination, and increased fundraising efforts for the PAC to support the industry’s priorities. We are also evaluating our programs and initiatives to ensure Florida-breds remain competitive and well-supported. We are moving decisively.

A key example of this momentum is the recently announced partnership to study the feasibility of a racetrack in Ocala. This effort reflects our commitment to thoughtful, data-driven planning and long-term vision for Florida’s Thoroughbred industry. By engaging in a serious evaluation process, we are exploring opportunities that could strengthen racing, support breeders and owners, and enhance Ocala’s role as a cornerstone of the industry—while ensuring decisions are informed, responsible, and grounded in economic reality.

Our message in Tallahassee remains clear and consistent: Florida’s Thoroughbred industry matters, and it deserves informed, Florida-led advocacy. We are focused on protecting long-term stability while advancing policies that foster growth, competitiveness, and opportunity. This work is ongoing, and it is already well underway.

Across the farms, training centers, and sales barns of Florida, your daily dedication drives this industry. FTBOA’s role is to support that effort by advocating on your behalf, strengthening our programs, and ensuring the value of Florida-breds remains strong. Your involvement and partnership keep us moving forward.

As we head into a new year, thank you for your trust, your engagement, and your commitment to the Florida Thoroughbred community. We’re getting into position—and gaining momentum.
