Florida-bred Millionaire Bentornato Takes on Derby Winner Mystik Dan in Malibu Stakes

Recently crowned millionaire Bentornato has returned to Southern California from his base at trainer Jose D’Angelo’s barn at Palm Meadows to challenge 2024 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (Grade 1)-winner Mystik Dan in the Grade 1 Malibu at Santa Anita Park Thursday. The seven-furlong Malibu offers a purse of $300,000 to the eight 3-year-olds entered.

Versatile Florida-bred Charlie's Wish Cross-Entered in Suwannee River and Rampart

The value of adaptability is on full display with Florida-bred Charlie’s Wish as trainer David Fawkes has cross-entered her in both the Grade 3 Suwannee River going a mile on the turf Saturday and the $140,000 Rampart set for a mile on the main track Thursday, both at Gulfstream Park.

Trainer Antonio Sano is approaching a personal milestone of 1,000 Thoroughbred career wins in North America (US and Canada). Through Friday Dec. 20, Sano was at 998 wins. He has three horses entered to run at Gulfstream Park next Thursday.
