Bridlewood Farm stallion Valiant Minister heads into the 2025 breeding season with a new millionaire among his progeny after Leon King Stable Corp.’s Bentornato produced a dramatic second-place finish in the Grade 1 Cygames Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club on Nov. 2.

Florida-bred Good Long Cry Breaks Through with Definitive Maiden Victory

Second against maidens in her last four tries, Florida-bred Good Long Cry won emphatically Thursday with a six-and-a-quarter-length victory on the Aqueduct turf. Ridden to victory by Irad Ortiz Jr., Good Long Cry won a mile-and-a-sixteenth maiden special weight against nine other 2-year-old fillies to earn the winner’s share of the $90,000 purse.

Horse Owners Encouraged to Take Biosecurity Survey

With the support of the United States Department of Agriculture, the Equine Disease Communication Center is completing a study to determine the awareness and knowledge of biosecurity in the horse industry. Horse owners are needed help to assess the understanding and use of biosecurity for horses. The goal is to help protect horses from infectious diseases.
