Big Paradise Favored Against Fellow Florida-breds in Juvenile Sprint

Alex and JoAnn Lieblong’s homebred Big Paradise has been labeled the 6-5 morning line favorite for Saturday’s $65,000 Juvenile Sprint, a six-and-half-furlong contest for Florida-bred 2-year-olds at Gulfstream Park. The Juvenile Sprint also offers a $20,000 bonus for Florida Sire Stakes-eligible runners presented by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.

Florida-bred Capture the Lion is High Weight in Extravagant Kid Handicap

Gary Barber’s Capture the Lion, a fourth-place finisher last out in the Grade 2 bet365 Connaught Cup on turf at Woodbine in July, returns to the synthetic course at Gulfstream Park Saturday for the $75,000 Extravagant Kid overnight handicap. A winner of two of four starts on the Gulfstream all-weather course last year, the Florida-bred gelding has been assigned the co-high weight of 122 pounds among the eight 3-year-olds and older who will go five-and-a-half furlongs.

Andrew Fernung Joins OBS Staff

OCALA, FL—Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company announced today that Andrew Fernung has been named to the position of assistant sales coordinator.


A lifelong Ocala resident, Fernung is continuing a family tradition of horsemanship. The son of the late renowned horseman John Fernung, Andrew Fernung joins OBS after spending eight years as assistant trainer for Eddie Woods Stable.
