Strangles Confirmed in Marion County

According to the Equine Disease Communication Center and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, a private facility in Marion County in Florida has been placed under quarantine by the FDACS as of Nov. 6 due to a horse testing positive for strangles.

Jockey Edgar Perez is approaching a personal milestone of 1,000 Thoroughbred career wins. Through racing on Tuesday, Nov. 7, Perez has 997 wins in North America (US and Canada) plus two wins in Puerto Rico for a total of 999 wins.

Edgar Perez has five mounts Friday and five mounts Saturday at Gulfstream Park.
