Queen Maxima Does Not Disappoint With Strong Score in Wishing Well

Sent postward as the 2-5 favorite, Florida-bred Queen Maxima dominated the $100,500 Wishing Well at Santa Anita Saturday, winning by three-and-a-half lengths after six furlongs on the turf. It was the first career stakes victory and third straight win for the 4-year-old chestnut filly, who defeated five distaff rivals.

Great Venezuela Rallies to Win First Stakes in Lightning City

Great Venezuela had four horses beat turning for home then rallied on the outside to win going away in the $125,000 Lightning City at Tampa Bay Downs Saturday. It was the first career stakes victory for the 4-year-old daughter of Pleasant Acres Stallions’ Neolithic, as she bested 11 other fillies and mares over five furlongs on the turf.

Rouki Rolls To Win Turf Dash at Odds of 20-1

Discounted by the wagering public, Tropic Lightning Racing LLC's longshot Rouki wore down fellow Florida-bred Souper Quest in deep stretch for a persistent win in the $117,500 Turf Dash at five furlongs at Tampa Bay Downs Saturday. Although a winner of four of his last six, Rouki was let go at odds of 20-1 before winning his first career stakes while taking down a $60,000 first prize and a $17,500 Florida-bred bonus presented by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.

This Day in Florida Thoroughbred History - Parranda Wins the $2.2 million Singapore Cup at Kranji Racecourse

FEBRUARY 22, 2015-Making her second start for Malaysian businessman Teo Ah King's China Horse Club, Florida-bred Parranda went by front-running Summer Surprise with 300 meters to the finish to easily win the US$2,248,316 China Equine Cultural Festival Singapore Cup (Group 1-Sin) at Kranji Racecourse. Parranda won the 1,800 meter (about nine furlongs) turf contest—billed as the richest race in the history of Singapore—by two-and-a-half lengths ahead of Zululand (Aus) in second with Ming Zhi Cosmos (Fr) a nose father back in third. The final time was 1:48.53.
