Flood Zone Earns Derby Points With Upset Victory in Gotham

Wathnan Racing's Flood Zone went from maiden winner to Kentucky Derby contender in just under a minute and 40 seconds with an impressive victory in the Grade 3 Gotham at Aqueduct Saturday. Winning the one-mile contest at odds of 17-1, the Florida-bred son of Frosted picked up 50 points on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard to almost insure himself a spot in the starting gate for the Run for the Roses on May 3.

Global Steve, Right Wing Runner Return to Parx Racing for City of Brotherly Love

Florida-breds Global Steve and Right Wing Runner return to Parx Racing Tuesday for the $75,000 City of Brotherly Love, a mile-and-one-sixteenth contest for eight 3-year-olds. Global Steve is tabbed at 4-1 on the morning line while Right Wing Runner is labeled at 8-1 in the program.

This Day in Florida Thoroughbred History - Longshot Dance for Thee Upsets Grade 2 Rampart at Gulfstream Park

MARCH 1, 1998-Sent to the post at odds of 33-1, Florida-bred Dance for Thee and jockey Joe Bravo overcame trouble in the far turn to upset the Grade 2 Rampart at Gulfstream Park, taking the winner's share of the $200,000 purse. It was the first graded stakes victory for the 4-year-old Dance for Thee, who was trained by Leo Azpurua Jr. for owner John Franks.
