OBS Bus Trip to Tallahassee


(Ocala Breeders' Sales Company) On Tues, April 1, the Florida Senate will hold a hearing on the Senate version of the decoupling bill. We encourage horsemen to show support opposing the bill. A bus will leave OBS 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and return Tuesday night after the hearing for anyone wanting to attend and support. The hearing starts at 4 pm.

Classic of Course Courageous in Cutler Bay Victory

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL—Florida-bred Classic of Course circled rivals in the far turn then outran 4-5 favorite Forged Steel in the deep stretch to win the $158,000 Cutler Bay at Gulfstream Park Saturday. In taking his first career stakes, Classic of Course defeated seven other 3-year-olds seven-and-a-half furlongs in his first start on the grass.

Florida Sire Stakes Rivalry Resumes in Stonehedge Farm South Sophomore Fillies

A rivalry from last year's FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes resumes Sunday when Win N Your In and R Morning Brew face off again in the $110,000 Stonehedge Farm South Sophomore Fillies at Tampa Bay Downs. However, morning line favoritism goes to the George Weaver-trained Bella Cleopatra, set at 3-1 in the competitive field of eight Florida-bred 3-year-old fillies going seven furlongs.

This Day in Florida Thoroughbred History - Top Knight Takes the $121,800 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park

MARCH 30, 1969-Top Knight and jockey Manuel Ycaza raced to the inside of fellow Florida-bred Fast Hilarious through six furlongs in 1:12 then drew off in the stretch to win the $121,800 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park by five lengths.
