Otago Runs Down Forever Souper for Suspenseful Cliff Hanger

Otago had finished behind Forever Souper in the last two editions of the ESMARK Turf Classic at Tampa Bay Downs but got the best of his fellow Florida-bred Saturday with a dramatic victory in the $100,000 Cliff Hanger on the grass at Monmouth Park.

Shaq Diesel Runs Away With Convincing Win in Big Drama

Third in last year's Big Drama won by fellow Florida-bred Octane, Shaq Diesel won this year's edition with authority, scoring by four lengths with 120 pounds and jockey Miguel Vasquez aboard.

Florida-bred Monster Romps in Maiden Special Weight at Gulfstream Friday

Progeny by Pleasant Acres Stallions' first crop sire Leinster continued their tear through the juvenile ranks as Arindel's Monster dominated a five-furlong maiden special weight on the Gulfstream Park turf Friday, winning by nine lengths.

This Day in Florida Thoroughbred History - Lost Code Wins the Grade 3 Illinois Derby

MAY 23, 1987-Florida-bred Lost Code used his instinctive speed to go wire to wire and win the Grade 3 Illinois Derby at Sportsman's Park for his fourth straight stakes victory and first against graded company for trainer William L. Donovan and Donald Levinson's Wendover Stable.

Strangles in Marion County

According to the Equine Disease Communication Center and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, a boarding facility in Marion County, Florida has been placed under quarantine by the FDACS as of May 23 due three horses suspected for strangles.
