Echo Lane Defends Title in Claiming Crown Emerald

Florida-bred Echo Lane took on a determined frontrunning Gerwurztraminer in the stretch before getting the advantage late to defend his title in the $186,886 Claiming Crown Emerald at Churchill Downs Saturday.

Determined Ashima Overcomes Trouble to Win Claiming Crown Tiara

Wallace R. Moore Jr.'s Ashima had trouble before the start of $150,000 Tiara then endured problems at several stages throughout but was undeterred in winning the mile-and-one-sixteenth turf contest by three-quarters of a length at Churchill Downs Saturday.

Dry Martini Wins Grade 3 Stuyvesant Handicap

NOVEMBER 15, 2008-Carol Staley's Dry Martini ended a streak of five races and more than 16 months without a victory with a convincing three-and-a-half-length score in the mile-and-one-eighth Stuyvesant Handicap (Grade 3) at Aqueduct.

Milestone


Jockey Rajiv Maragh is approaching a personal milestone of 2,000 Thoroughbred career wins in North America (US and Canada). Through racing today, Nov. 15, Maragh was at 1,996 wins. He has five scheduled mounts on Sunday, Nov. 16, and three scheduled mounts on Friday, Nov. 22, all at Gulfstream Park.
