Florida-breds Cagliostro, Baby Yoda Set for Grade 1 Forego

The Sunshine State will be well represented in the $500,000 Forego (Grade 1) at Saratoga Race Course Saturday as recent stakes-winners Cagliostro and Baby Yoda are among the eight older horses entered in the seven-furlong contest. Both Florida-breds have won two of their last three races with Cagliostro taking the $279,000 Hanshin at Churchill Downs on June 30 while Baby Yoda won the Grade 2 True North at Saratoga on June 8.

Florida-bred Bentornato Returns in Robert Hilton Memorial

Bentornato, winner of the first two legs of the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes last year, makes his first start since February this Friday night in the $500,000 Robert Hilton Memorial at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races. The Florida-bred son of Bridlewood Farm stallion Valiant Minister is 9-2 on the morning line for the seven-furlong Robert Hilton, which has attracted a full field of 10 3-year-olds plus two on the also eligible list.

Contagious Equine Metris in Orange County

According to the Equine Disease Communication Center and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture, several new cases of Contagious Equine Metris were confirmed in Orange County, Fla., on Aug. 20. An official quarantine has been issued.

Jockey Julien R. Leparoux is approaching a personal milestone of 3,000 Thoroughbred career wins in North America (US and Canada). Through the seventh race at Saratoga Race Course on Thursday, August 22, Leparoux was at 2,993 wins. He has one scheduled mount at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races on Friday.
