Rated by Merit Rated Heavy Favorite for Florida Sire Stakes Affirmed

Undefeated Florida-bred Rated by Merit has been installed as the 3-5 morning line favorite for Saturday’s $200,000 Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association Florida Sire Stakes Affirmed, a seven-furlong test for 2-year-olds by accredited Florida stallions. The Affirmed is the second leg of the male division of the $1.2 million Florida Sire Stakes and is the co-feature on Saturday’s program with the $200,000 Susan’s Girl, the second leg of the filly division also run at seven furlongs.

Florida-bred El Potente to Make Second Start this Year in Lure Stakes

El Potente, who came off a nine-month layoff with a strong gate-to-wire score in June, makes his first start since in Saturday’s $80,000 Lure at Santa Anita. Trained by Dan Blacker for My Way Racing LLC, the 5-year-old Florida-bred horse will face eight other 3-year-olds and older going a mile on the turf.
