Lennilu Opens Season with Popular Melody of Colors Win

Amy Dunne, Caitlin Dunne, Brenda Miley, Jean Wilkinson, Hoffman Family Racing, Tranquility Lake Farm, Maury Harrington and Christopher Harrington's Lennilu kicked off her season in style with a popular victory in Sunday's $120,000 Leinster Melody of Colors for 3-year-old fillies at Gulfstream Park.

This Florida-bred colt by Nashville was bred by Tim and Crystal O’Donohue’s Castle Gate Farm in Ocala and foaled on March 2. He is the first foal of the unraced Florida-bred Astern (Aus) mare Heart of the Ocean, who was purchased by Castle Gate for $40,000 at the 2021 Ocala Breeders’ Sales October Yearling Sale. Second dam Blue Valentine, by Silver Train, is a half-sister to British stakes-winner and multiple group stakes-producer Itemize, stakes-placed Family Business and multiple stakes-producer Bureaucat.

The Jockey Club Releases Data from the Equine Injury Database for 2025

LEXINGTON, KY-According to the initial data analysis from the 17th year of reporting to the Equine Injury Database, the rate of fatal injury in 2025 was 1.07 per 1,000 starts, the lowest rate since the EID began in 2009.
