Cliff and Michele Love's Damon's Mound became the 190th Florida-bred millionaire during the 23rd running of the Florida Cup at Tampa Bay Downs Sunday, winning the $110,000 NYRABets Sprint by a half-length with regular rider Junior Alvarado up.

The 23rd running of the Florida Cup, made up of six stakes for Florida-breds at Tampa Bay Downs Sunday, got off to a dramatic start with Live Oak Plantation homebred Uncle's Gold getting the edge in a three-horse blanket finish in the $100,000 Turf Classic.

Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. only had to give a shake of the reins to cue Tessellate to an easy four-and-a-half-length victory in the $98,000 Stonehedge Farm South Sophomore Filles, one of six stakes for Florida-breds in the 23rd edition of the Florida Cup at Tampa Bay Downs Sunday.

Charlotte Weber's Live Oak Plantation saw their second homebred of the day take a Florida Cup race Sunday at Tampa Bay Downs when Souper Zonda and jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. won the $100,000 Pleasant Acres Stallions Distaff Turf.

Mr Mo's Magic came from six lengths back with a half mile to run and upset the $110,000 Lambholm South Sophomore Turf at odds of 13-1 Sunday at Tampa Bay Downs. The Sophomore Turf was the third of six stakes, all for Florida-breds, in the 23rd running of the Florida Cup.

Maykomotion graduated into stakes company with success from a last out maiden victory, taking the $110,000 Ocala Breeders' Sales Sophomore by two lengths as jockey John Velazquez won the first two Florida Cup races on the day.
