Chris Pallas, a pharmacist from South Florida, has had incredible success with a number of the racehorses he has owned and bred. It all began with one inspirational book. "Sometimes I pinch myself at how this whole journey began, or what has transpired since," Pallas said.


"It all started back in 1981 when I first read ‘My 50,000 Dollar Year at the Races’ by Andrew Beyer. I was fascinated by the way his story wove together and I then started attending the races on Saturday’s."

AHP Award Winning Ad Featured in The Florida Horse


Sheridan, Gantt, Moffatt, Kaplan Win Equine Media Awards for FEC

Under the flagship of The Florida Horse, Brock Sheridan, Tammy Gantt, Nancy Moffatt and the late John Filer took home four American Horse Publications equine media awards, including one top honor, on Saturday, May 18 at the AHP conference in Lexington, Ky. from among 78 AHP members and more than 453 entries in 47 categories.


The Florida Horse magazine advertising spread titled Come to Florida took first place in the Equine-Related Single Advertisement Design category.

Gunnevera Colts Brings $170,000

A pair of Florida-bred colts each garnered final bids of $350,000 during the first day of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training held Monday in Timonium, Md. The two-day auction continued Tuesday.

Milestone Watch


Jockey Scott Spieth is approaching a personal milestone of 5,000 Thoroughbred career wins in North America (US and Canada). Through racing Tuesday, May 21, Spieth was at 4,999 wins. He has one Mount at Presque Isle Downs on Wednesday.
